About the adventure

Delta Green takes the foundation of the Lovecraft mythos and Call of Cthulhu RPG and expands it to a secret government conspiracy to stomp out the unnatural before the general public discovers it's existence. Or, if you're more of a visual person: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Albop3XB8-o "Nights at the Opera" is a trilogy of possibly-self-contained and possibly-linked operations run in the DeltaGreen universe to both introduce the setting and the RPG's mechanics to new players. The first session will go over character creation and intro players into their first operation, which is expected to run 2-4 sessions in total length. Each operation thereafter ought run from 3 to 10 sessions depending on agents' actions and skillsets. Which operations past the first will be chosen will depend on player actions and interest. Survival is not guaranteed -- but thankfully agent creation is a breeze once you've done it once before. If there are sufficient agents who would want to run a full campaign or a longer operation after this introductory series, we may extend into that.

About me

Writer, actor, professional game creator, and all-around "semi-pro" Storyteller! I wear many hats and do a lot of things; some may call me a jack of all trades. But the oldest, fondest, hat in my closet that I never completely take off is the hat of 'forever DM'. I'm very fond of opportunities to tell odd stories and I particularly love telling stories as a group activity. Paid DMing allows me to tell tales and do prepwork I wouldn't normally have the time for; given the opportunity, I'd be happy to work full time on it. For me, the title of 'forever DM' isn't a nag -- it's a commitment!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done on-server during our first meeting. No materials, supplies, or homework will be necessary prior to that game. You may wish to briefly consider what sort of profession/walk-of-life your agent may be from; bear in mind this will be their 'first real operation' however and beforehand they have likely only had at most a fleeting and momentary encounter with the Unknown.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please be sure to have access to Discord before the appointed time. I will message players an invitation link to the game discord the day before the game would begin as well as an invitation link to the Sqyre server it would be played on.

What Fate brings to the table

DeltaGreen is traditionally played Theater of the Mind with handouts -- I am running a 'heightened' version of that experience. Though we will largely stay Theater of the Mind, you can expect both custom handouts and animated scenery to draw you in to the world that much more alongside professionally licensed creeping ambience and music selected specially for Delta Green.

Safety

How Fate creates a safe table

My intention is for you to be having a great time even as your agents are having the worst days of their (perhaps very brief) lives. As such, we will be holding as part of our first session a consideration on what themes should be presented or be left absent. I ordinarily run Lines and Veils for this but am trialing a variant of it for my horror content called the Palette Grid (https://possumcreek.medium.com/the-palette-grid-a-safety-tool-e66520c6971c). Setting this up will be an interactive exercise as part of our first session and will remain on-server for reference and further alterations if needed.
