About the adventure
📜 If you are reading this, then you already know that you're special. You have survived things that others did not. Something that seems obvious to you, have befuddled those around you for generations. Magic, swordplay, tactics, diplomacy, song, or even your connection to something older than these mortal pursuits - has come to you like a fish to the sea. This is not an accident. You are a Hero. Be it by birth or fate, you've known this and if the people around you don't already, then they will soon. My hope, is that you're one of the ones we need now. The Dragonlords are no more. The Oath of Peace that has kept the Titans and the Gods from tearing each other apart for the past 500 years is ending. War is coming to Thylea. A war that the Gods are ill-equipped to win and will bring doom to all the mortal races, and enslavement to the titans for the rest. The people are terrified, and they have every right to be. Featuring a campaign that takes players from 1st to 15th level (with optional content to extend the game to 20th level) and written by writers and game designers behind hit RPG's such as Dragon Age: Origins, Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, and Baldur's Gate. 🛠 This campaign features custom subclasses for every standard 5e character class, with each being tailored for the adventure's story and tone. Additionally, every character gains an Epic Path - a personal story that gives your character the opportunity to gain unique abilities and magic items. 🔮 The world of Thylea is a place across a stormy sea, with its own gods, its own magic, and its own rules. About me
Hey y'all, I'm Chris. I'm a late 30-something Game Master from and currently living on the edge of Hillbilly Nation in the state of Kentucky. For a little north of the past 20 years I've usually been actively running, or thinking about running, some sort of tabletop roleplaying game. In 2003, I started running games because no one else wanted to play the game I wanted to. Then in 2024, I decided to take the plunge and try asking complete strangers to *pay* me to play make-believe for a few hours every week. To be completely honest, I still have a hard time understanding why, but after a couple of years of doing this at a professional level I'm starting to accept that I might be good at it. I'm a shy person by nature. I have mild stutter, plenty of anxiety, and enough self-doubt to go around -- but I also love being a Game Master. It's fun, it's creatively rewarding, and I'm constantly getting to meet and learn about new people, places, and things when I do it. Listen, I re-wrote and deleted huge chunks of this. I want to respect your time and try to make your experience fun. I want you to feel like you can relax, have a good time, and get engaged in creating a fun experience that makes your 3-ish hours with me a highlight of your week. Creating your character
- Characters will be created during session 0. - Characters will be created at 1st level, using the 2014 version of Dungeons & Dragons. - Attributes are determined with standard point-buy rules, but may add a free +2 bonus OR a feat at character creation. - Included in this campaign is a custom portrait of your character, as well as a thematically appropriate circular token frame.
🗓️ This campaign will take roughly a year to a year and a half to complete. Characters are currently at level 6. 🫂 Influences for this adventure include: Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, Troy, The Odyssey, Star Wars, the 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Gladiator, Our Flag Means Death, Disney’s Hercules, Conan the Barbarian. 🛠️ Characters are be created via standard 2014 Dungeons & Dragons rules using point-buy for attributes. All characters receive a FREE feat or Ability Score Increase at level 1. 📯 JOIN THE ADVENTURE! The heroes have been summoned, but more are needed. Join the Heroes of the Oracle and race to save Thylea from its doom! - 🕶 Lucina the Sorcerer/Paladin, the demi-god child of the Titan of Death. 500 years ago she was inducted into the Dragonlords and fought against her own family. She has returned to fight once more. (Vanished One Epic Path) - 🐍 Megaera the Wizard, a young scholar who seeks a end to the curse that has long plagued her family line. A shy woman when she first joined, she has proven herself in battle over and over again to be a force to be reckoned with. (Cursed One Epic Path) - 🔥 Pyron, a native Thylean nymph who seeks to bring a change to Thylea and to make the Titans pay for their crimes... and to find the beast that scarred his flesh and killed his family.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need to have the following: - A stable internet connection. - A dedicated microphone and space with minimal background noise. - A free Discord account (https://discord.com) - A free Forge VTT account (https://forge-vtt.com) - Some understanding of 5e D&D (basic rules found here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules) - A copy of the free Players Guide to Odyssey of the Dragonlords. - Bi-weekly Availability. Optional: - Webcam (mine will be on in any case!) - A computer capable of handling a graphically intensive campaign.

Short Version I'm not here to run an edgy table, or to make anyone feel uncomfortable or belittled. I expect everyone to behave like adults who have come over to friend's house for dinner. ******** Longer Version - Lines & Veils are welcomed to be discussed before the game begins. Players will also be provided a google form version of the Monte Cooke Consent in Gaming checklist. - My personal Lines & Veils are: Lines - No sexual assault of any kind will be depicted by the players or the GM. Veils - Explicit sexual or romantic content will be handwaved or treated in a "fade-to-black" manner. - A 10/15-min breaks is taken every 1.5-2.0 hours regardless of total playtime. - Any homebrew rules will be discussed ahead of time. - Access to D&D Beyond, Campaign Discord, and Consent Checklist will be sent after players have reserved their seat!
