About the adventure

The Wayfarer’s Pact is a living, ongoing D&D 5e campaign set in a rich high-fantasy world on the brink of upheaval. Kingdoms rise and fall, ancient magic stirs, and monsters and conspiracies threaten the fragile balance of power. As members of the Pact, a legendary guild of adventurers, you will take on dangerous contracts, uncover lost secrets, and shape the future of the realm through your choices. This campaign is designed to be both story-driven and drop-in friendly. Whether you are a brand-new hero or a seasoned veteran, your character can join the Pact and immediately become part of the unfolding story. Each session features a complete adventure: dungeon delves, political intrigue, wilderness expeditions, and character-focused moments, while contributing to a larger, evolving narrative that spans the entire world. My GMing style focuses on player agency, immersive storytelling, and meaningful consequences. I love cinematic combat, memorable NPCs, and giving players the freedom to solve problems creatively. Your decisions will matter: alliances can shift, cities can be saved or destroyed, and your character’s actions will leave a lasting mark on the setting. This game is perfect for players who enjoy classic D&D fantasy with a modern, narrative-driven approach: whether you love roleplay, tactical combat, exploration, or all three. New players are welcome and fully supported, and experienced players will find plenty of depth, challenge, and long-term character growth.

About me

I am a narrative focused GM who loves helping players tell epic stories. I started playing roleplaying games in elementary school and began running them not long after, which means I have about fifteen years of GM experience under my belt. In that time I have built a handful of sprawling homebrew worlds full of politics, mystery, mythology, weird creatures, and big character moments. My games mix drama, humor, and cinematic action, and I always try to make every story feel personal to the characters at the table. My style is collaborative and player centered. I work with players to figure out what excites them and then weave their character goals into the world so the story feels like it truly belongs to them. I draw inspiration from Dimension 20 and Worlds Beyond Number, along with the books and myths that have lived rent free in my head for years, which helps me craft adventures with real emotional stakes and meaningful choices. Whether you are brand new or a seasoned adventurer, my table is welcoming, safe, and built on shared imagination. If you want immersive worlds and character driven storytelling, I would love to run a game for you.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will use the 2024 D&D 5e ruleset and will be created in Roll20. New players are fully welcome, I’m happy to help with character creation and rules at any time. Your character’s starting level will be set based on the current party so that everyone begins on even footing. If you’re joining a new arc, you’ll start at the party’s current level, making it easy to jump into the ongoing story. Ability scores are generated using 4d6 (reroll 1s), drop the lowest, rolled in Roll20. This keeps characters powerful, balanced, and fun to play. You may use any official D&D 5e sourcebook for races, classes, and backgrounds. Homebrew and third-party content are welcome with approval, just message me in advance so we can make sure it fits the world and stays balanced. If you’d rather not build a character from scratch, pre-generated characters will be available, and I can also help you tweak or customize one to make it your own.

This is the first session of a new adventure! We are just beginning!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before your first session, you’ll receive a welcome message with links and instructions. To get ready, you’ll need to: - Create a free Roll20 account (for maps, dice, and character sheets) - Join the campaign’s Discord server (for voice chat, text channels, and announcements) - Make sure you have a working microphone and a stable internet connection If you’re new to any of these tools, no worries, I’m happy to walk you through setup before your first game. Pre-generated characters are available if you want to jump straight into play.

What Henry Kacik brings to the table

I run cinematic, story-driven D&D with a strong focus on player agency and meaningful choices. You can expect a world that reacts to what you do: NPCs remember you, factions change, and your victories and failures leave a lasting mark on the campaign. Sessions feature: Immersive roleplay with memorable NPCs and character voices Tactical, exciting combat using maps and dynamic encounters Exploration and mystery in a living fantasy world I embrace creative solutions and the Rule of Cool when it makes the story better, while still respecting the structure and balance of D&D 5e. This game is designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and collaborative, whether you’re brand new to D&D or a veteran player.

Homebrew rules

I use a small number of quality-of-life house rules to keep the game fast and fun: -Potions can be used as a bonus action (or an action for max effect) -Crits on skill checks auto succeed (a crit is a crit). -Nat 1s on skill checks auto fail (a crit fail is a crit fail).

Safety

How Henry Kacik creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are a top priority in The Wayfarer’s Pact. Before the campaign begins, I will share a Lines & Veils form where players can privately note any topics they want avoided entirely (Lines) or handled gently and off-screen (Veils). These boundaries are respected at all times. We will also have a brief Session 0 to go over expectations, tone, table culture, and any concerns players may have. This helps ensure everyone is on the same page about the kind of story we’re telling and the kind of table we’re creating. During play, we use X, N, & O Cards digitally through chat: X = stop or rewind content N = something is uncomfortable, please shift O = everything is good Players can also use Open Door at any time to step away, take a break, or leave the session without pressure or explanation. After intense scenes or difficult moments, I will check in with the table to make sure everyone is feeling okay. Short debriefs and optional aftercare help ensure the game remains fun, safe, and collaborative for everyone. This campaign is intended to be welcoming, inclusive, and respectful — your comfort always comes before the story.
