About the adventure
In sunny California, on the cool and beautiful coast lies the city of Santa Cruz. Home to a Surfing Museum, a thriving state college, and plenty of beautiful beach, it seems like it might just be the perfect city. For a select few, however, it is an intense battleground for the very souls of all humanity. In the background of a gorgeous city and lovely vacation spot are the Pentacle Orders and the Seers of the Throne. Warring for both personal reasons and over lost ancient histories these two factions have made Santa Cruz into the site of many proxy battles. As they wage their magic and mundane war on one another, many supernatural occurrences go unchecked. The enlightenment of mages has cast a long shadow for supernatural horrors to hide in and act unbound. You are a newly awakened mage. Your soul was lit aflame in an encounter with the supernatural, and you were granted power untold. You have only begun to see how it feels and what it truly is to tap into that power. You have peeked beyond the Veil of the Lie and see a world of wonder and terror stretching before you. Whether you want it or not, you are now embroiled in the conflict all mages are a part of. The struggle to maintain your wisdom as the world around you tempts you to acts of hubris that will inevitably destroy you. Beyond the Lie in Santa Cruz is a new player friendly Mage the Awakening 2nd Edition game. Players will be Newly Awakened Mages who are part of the Pentacle Orders. Guided loosely and expected to find their way as mages, players will be granted opportunities to explore the dangers and joys of being a mage. All this while hidden forces corrupt the city and a cold war wages in the background.

About me
Hello, my name is Oscar and I am a game designer and active GM! I hope to GM a wide variety of games for an equally wide variety of people so that I can experience more perspectives on TTRPG's. I like the strange and the niche and want to bring unique TTRPG experiences to life! I've been a GM since 2017 and in that time I have run a number of different types of game. From galaxy spanning space adventures to gritty and cruel low fantasy I can run a variety of different tones and settings. I tend towards more combat but I am just as happy to run more story and role-play focused games. I'm not overly attached to any one system, and if I don't already know it I'm happy to learn it. I've actively run Exalted, Lancer, Crowns, Five Torches Deep, and Shadow of the Demon Lord as well as familiarized myself with Eclipse Phase, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e, Chronicles of Darkness, Pathfinder 2e, and Cyberpunk RED
