About the adventure

Do you like honorable knights? Do you enjoy a good mystery? Do you fancy anthropomorphized bugs? Then this is the game for you! In Beetle Knight by Jim Hall, you build a bug knight with a storied past that is tasked to go and solve the mysteries of the kingdom of Litter Fall. This indie TTRPG is not just adorable, it is incredibly unique and easy to play. Together we'll encounter hive mind insects as well as humble isopods as we build the lore of this lovely little kingdom. In session 0 we will discuss character builds, lines and veils, and goals and wishes for this game. I'm excited and honored to bring you to the wonderful world of Bug Knight!

About me

Hello! I'm a queer, disabled, Irish/Italian American from the east coast USA. I'm highly sarcastic, dramatic, and obsessed with story telling. I've been playing TTRPG's since I was a young warthog and I have no plans of stopping. I'm quite proud of my one-shot running skills. I don't want to jinx it, but I've never had a one-shot turn into a two or three-shot on accident as I'm very good at adapting to the pacing of my players. I like to start every table relationship with lines and veils. (If you don't know what that means, I can tell you when we meet!) And I love to shape a story based on the goals and desires of my players. I'm an accent guy and I adore when my players join in too! At my table I care more about telling a good story than I do following the rules religiously. So if you're a rules lawyer, I respect the grind, but we probably won't match. That's not to say I always hang the rules, but they are more like guidelines, anyway. I love to tell stories about how the bad guy ends up having a change of heart, or the system was the problem all along, or something scary was just misunderstood, or having a mental break through that redefines success, and of course, a good ole plot twist. My genre/vibe picks are spooky ghost tales, hope-core, mystery, kids in peril, nature/ cute critter characters, and a bunch more! So, if you're new to the game or a veteran who loves a good story and a lot of laughs, come share my table! I can't wait to play with you.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters together in our session 0. Since this is an indie game, I do not expect anyone to know how to build a character yet.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be playing on discord, so have an account before session 0. Other than that, you're golden.

What Virginia brings to the table

I will send out the quick rules reference to everyone so that we all feel prepared. I will also send you copies of the character sheets to either print or use digitally. I love doing silly character voices, and playing music that sets the mood. While we will have the rules, my main objective is to tell a good story. So if you have a good enough idea, or an interesting enough one, I'll ignore whatever rules needed to see what happens. Most importantly, in session 0 we would have set up the boundaries, goals, and wishes for you as a player, for your character, and for the table as a whole. Those things will be my story writing compass for the tale we tell together.

Safety

How Virginia creates a safe table

In session 0 we will go over lines and veils. I will also explain the "X card." You can always message me privately (either immediately or afterwards) if something happened in the game that made you feel uncomfortable and I will do whatever I can to rectify the issue.
