About the adventure
In a world of high fantasy sword and sorcery / monsters and heroes, a group of everyday commoners take refuge at the Overlook Inn as a blizzard rages outside. Someone is not who they say they are and everyone keeps secrets. Your goal is to accomplish the task you came here to achieve without spilling your secrets… or your blood. By the end of the night your original task may be forgotten as you do everything in your power to survive. Which is the most dangerous: the Thing in the Overlook Inn, the other eleven people, or YOU?

About me
Hi! My name is Chad and I've been in love with TTRPGs since the mid-80s. For me, it's always been about the collaborative storytelling process. I love playing with diverse groups who each bring their own ideas, experiences and secret sauce to the table to make characters, environments and events come alive. My goal is to provide a safe space for people to come together and explore their creativity and beat up the metaphorical monsters that are tough to face in the real world. 1️⃣ Express your needs. Share your opinions. I want to listen (and help if I can). 2️⃣ Rule of cool. 3️⃣ Character over plot. 4️⃣ Everyone at the table deserves to have fun and to share in the spotlight (if they are comfortable with it). 5️⃣ I never stop worldbuilding. Even when the campaign is over.

Creating your character
1st level, no restrictions to published content on the books I own in DnDBeyond. Each character will also choose a homebrew one-shot-specific occupation that will determine their character's secret, goal and special ability. This is a one-shot game and some characters WILL LIKELY die off during the game. If your character dies before the end of the game you can keep playing with us, either as one of the other NPCs or as a monster/bad guy.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a microphone but no webcam. We will use Foundry for the maps / character sheets and Discord for audio. Both tools are free. Please ensure that the software is installed, the servers are joined and mic is hooked up and working prior to the game. I will help you as much as possible.

How Adventure Capitalists creates a safe table
THEME The game's primary theme is Horror. The content and gameplay is in a fantasy setting, but takes a lot of inspiration from the novels/movies "The Thing", "The Shining" and "The Hateful Eight". GAMEPLAY This is NOT a traditional game about heroes with magic powers and awesome fighting skills. This is about regular, everyday people (or level 0 commoners) who are put into a horrific situation and must figure out how to survive. This will be a roleplay-heavy game, with some (but little) tactical combat. You will have to use your wits to figure out who/what the real monster is and deal with it together. Some PvP might happen. If your character dies, it does NOT mean you are out of the game. There are other NPCs for you to take over or you can choose to become one of the monsters / bad guys for the rest of the game. PLAYER SAFETY This game is rated R for horror, gore, violence and some adult language. I have an open-door policy (leave at any time, no questions asked, no judgement) and will discuss triggers, hard lines, veils prior to starting to make sure everyone is comfortable. We will alter content or skip a section to accommodate everyone.
