About the adventure

Explore an Ancient Greek analog, originating in Magic: The Gathering. Theros is a well written Heroic Fantasy world where the Gods play an important role in the day to day life of its people. Divine Gifts are bestowed on every Adventurer, and your relationship your God grants great power. Be careful not to anger them...What is given can be taken away.

About me

<-- Runs Custom Special Occasion One-Shots: Birthdays, Bachelor/Bachelorette, Holiday, Ect. 100% AI Free. Gamer, Dad, Forever DM, getting good at voices (according to my very generous players), love storytelling, and the tactical elements of the game! I love everything from serious and dark, to goofy munchkin nonsense! Oh, and there will probably be a higher than usual focus on food in my games. I'm a chef and can't help it. My goal is to deliver an experience you're happy to be a part of, let me know how I can make that happen. Rule #1 Be Kind - we're all here to have fun, playing a game, and telling stories together.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll do this during session 0, Theros has a few extra steps to get fully immersed in the world, and best to go over them together.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need Discord, Roll20, a love of Greek Mythology, and it wouldn't hurt if you were a fan of Xena/Hercules.

What Charlie Bastian brings to the table

As your Storyteller I bring 25+ years of gaming experience, most of those GMing, and a few of those doing so professionally. I'll bring the maps, the monsters, the music, the missions, and the mayhem.

Homebrew rules

#1 Be Kind - we're all here to have fun, playing a game, and telling stories together. #2 Buy In - Make a character for the game you're playing, someone that wants to go on the adventure, someone that wants to work in a party, ect. #3 Critical Hits - 5e crits are lame and I hate them, SO. When you crit instead of doubling the dice, or the number rolled, you'll ADD the full value of the base dice. Crit with a longsword 1d8+8, crit with a greataxe 1d12+12. No lame rolling two 1's making you feel bad about that Nat20. For classes that stack fists full of dice (looking at you rogues, and paladins) you'll add the average to your extra dice, ie. roll 3d6 sneak attack? on a crit it will be 3d6+11, paladin doing 2d8 smite it'll be 2d8+9. This will help keep it from feeling like crits only matter if you can dump a bajillion extra dice into. Fighter crits used to make me so sad. #4 Skill Dogpiling! Go ahead, be untrusting, roll Insight...however, the first person to say it gets to roll, anyone else has to use passive insight, that's what it's there for! Same goes for Perception, as that is about noticing. Investigation however, you can decide as a party to make a party check representing everyone actively looking for a thing. #5 PVP - Don't do it! unless it's discussed above table first, and by pvp I don't just mean attacking, I mean spells, and even skills, meant to force a character to do what YOU want them to do instead of their player. We don't remove player agency at this table, (unless its a bad guy, and you're supposed to stop them!) #6 Death Saves - These will be happening behind the screen. Its good for dramatic tension, and gets rid of the "oh he has 2 successes we can wait to heal him" mentality.

Safety

How Charlie Bastian creates a safe table

Remember we're here to tell a story, and play a game. In that vein, I have a completely open door policy. Any limits you have will be respected, and we'll go over them during our initial meet. I also have a 0 tolerance policy for bullies.
