About the adventure

Nervous energy thrums among the thousand hopefuls that crowd around the iron portcullis to the Arcanamirium, a magic school of unparalleled prestige. For the first time, it opens its gate to the likes of you: young, downtrodden, and ambitious. Your fantasies of the life ahead mingle with the crowd: everyday wonders, peaceful library nights, hallway riddles and conundrums, blushing gazes across hidden courtyards, and seminars with world-renowned archmages. But others within the academy walls have their own fantasies of how your student life will serve them: as unpaid labor, as pawns in their power games, as reservoirs of magic to consume, and as champions in a war that threatens magic in its entirety. What awaits you beyond the gate? A hard-won destiny you make with your friends? Or the chance to have your power ground down and used up? The Academy of Twin Truths opens its doors to you! In this custom adventure, you'll play as a student of magic who's looking to make their mark in an elite magic school. Shape your student life as you see fit, choosing which classes and clubs you'll attend, what part-time jobs you'll endure, how you'll spend your time off in the big city, and who among the student body will become your friends and rivals (and maybe lovers). And beyond the classroom, mysteries abound: puzzlebox exams, intrigue among the Arcanamirium's deans, long-entombed power players beneath the city, and more. Will you compete for top marks in your class? Slack off and party hard? Become the campus heartthrob or heartbreaker? Save the city from sinister forces? Campaign for your rights? Or tear it all down in rage? The choice is yours...

About me

To you who join me at the table, welcome home! Through astronomy modeling to folklore research, amidst fraught years in game design school and software engineering, from comic stage plays to dramatic recitals... I've taken a twisting path to role-playing games. Each of these former roles has taught me invaluable lessons, which I bring to the table. Confidence in my ability to improvise character moments. A systematizing mind to design challenges that test characters to their limits. Technical aptitude to use virtual tabletops to their fullest. An instinct for tapping into characters' hidden motives and how they can elevate drama. And an abiding appreciation for the shared humanity that binds us all together. Let us weave new stories together, full of mirth and mischief, love and laughter, and no shortage of groan-inducing puns.

Character creation

Creating your character

Prior to your first session, create a character of level and wealth matching the party in your game's Foundry server. You can see the current party's composition, as well as any third-party rules in effect, in the "Recruitment Notes" section. Detailed character creation options and restrictions appear in the "Homebrew Rules" section. I also provide a Discord channel where players can plan their characters and coordinate their party composition; feel free to ask any questions you may have there. For character building, I recommend a premium account on Pathbuilder (https://pathbuilder2e.com/), which supports character creation using the table's variant rules and allow for easy import into Foundry via the Pathmuncher module (https://foundryvtt.com/packages/pathmuncher). Pathbuilder files for third-party character options used by the table are available upon request. I can also assist in setting up player characters in Foundry.

Safety

How Saoirse, Veil Adept creates a safe table

This module presents action and adventure that abides by the Pathfinder Baseline guidelines set forth in Player Core (https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2265). Due to its emphasis on student life and interpersonal relationships, players should expect to encounter workplace exploitation, class- and youth-based prejudice in a pluralistic society, and supernatural nightmares. They may optionally choose to engage in romantic relationships with other characters. If you're new to one of my tables, be sure to fill out my entrance survey (accessible through preparation materials), so that the table can account for your lines and veils in advance.
