About the adventure
If you've never played Dungeons & Dragons, you're in the right place. Ever want a taste of adventure? Control over your own story? š This adventure is a quest-driven sandbox. I'm there to provide direction but otherwise you're in control of where you go next. Hunt monsters, protect villages, explore ruins, or follow leads that speak to your characters' motivations or backstories. š There isn't one rigid "main plot" but the world reacts to your choices and the NPCs remember the way you treat them. The Forgotten Realms, Dungeons & Dragons default setting, is full of organizations for you to discover, fight, and join. āļø There's a mix of combat, exploration, and roleplay with the exact balance shifting based on what the party enjoys. I ask for feedback at the end of every session so I never lose the pulse of what makes the game fun for you personally. Want to spend a day in the town, scouting for rumours? Or go a new direction in search of treasure? I'm all in. If you're nervous about rules or "doing it wrong" don't be. I handle everything so you can focus on the choices that matter. I'm patient with rules and bring them up only when necessary or asked about, and I'm always here for tactics advice or help with building your character. I'm also not a stickler; I'll remind you of your current objectives if you forget, and I'll bend the rules if it means something cool and impactful for the narrative. I give space to think, ask questions, and learn at your own speed and I'm always willing to repeat myself or rephrase. Player agency is my priority; whether you want the tone to be goofy or edgy or serious, or just figure it out as we go, I'm open to it all. Throw your ideas at me and we'll see where it takes us. That said, I also take safety and inclusion seriously. Everyone deserves to feel safe, comfortable, and heard. This game is perfect for š£ Brand new D&D players, either new to the hobby as a whole or new to the 2024 updated rules šļø Players who want structure in play but freedom in choices š§© Players who value learning, collaborating, and creative problem solving āļø Anyone who wants their character to matter to the world and the people in it No prior experience required either with Tabletop Roleplaying Games or Virtual Tabletops. If you want a game where you can learn comfortably, make real choices, and see your character grow into a hero this is the campaign for you. Questions before joining? Ask! I'm happy to answer anything and everything.

About me
Welcome to your next Table Adventure! I'm Ryan (he/him), the GM behind Tafelavontuur. I specialize in running beginner-friendly tabletop games where players can learn at their own pace, ask questions freely, and feel confident making choices even if it's their very first session. My goal is always the same: make sure everyone at the table feels comfortable, involved, and excited to keep playing. I run games that are player-driven and flexible. I enjoy teaching rules as they come up, keeping the game moving forward without overwhelming anyone. Clever ideas and creative problem-solving are encouraged, and I work with players to make their characters feel like they truly belong in the world. While I don't force heavy roleplay, I do enjoy bringing NPCs and situations to life when moments call for it. Safety and includion matter to me. I use clear safety tools, set expectations up front, and check in when needed so the table stays fun and respectful for everyone. Whether you're brand new to TTRPGs or just looking for a relaxed, supportive GM, you can expect a game that's welcoming, well-paced, and focused on shared enjoyment. If you're curious but nervous, you're exactly the kind of player I love running games for.

Creating your character
All you need to bring is creativity and imagination. Pick a few characters from your favorite book, tv show, anime, or videogame and we'll make something completely unique for you to play. Have you ever wanted to cast flame magic like Roy Mustang? Or lurk in the shadows like Ezio Auditore da Firenze? Whatever your inspiration, D&D makes dreams happen and I can't wait to hear yours.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will use Discord for voice calls and Foundry (hosted by Sqyre) for virtual tabletop play. You will need a microphone and account for Discord, but can be used directly from your browser or downloaded (optional). You'll also need to create an account through Sqyre which is used directly from your browser.
What Ryan - Tafelavontuur brings to the table
Are you new to Dungeons & Dragons, or tabletop roleplaying? You'll learn entirely by playing and having fun. I guide you through the rules as they come up, answer questions on the spot, and make sure you never feel lost. The mechanics fade into the background so that we can focus on your story. I'll walk you step-by-step from character idea to finished character sheet. Our table is set up for clarity; the handbook is easily accessible, dungeons and other scenes are clearly mapped, and combat is easy to keep track of. You'll always see where you are, know what quests are available to you, and understand your options at a glance. Ready to learn by doing?

How Ryan - Tafelavontuur creates a safe table
This table is built on trust, kindness, and curiosity. Iāve worked with many first-time players and folks from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ players, those exploring the hobby for the first time, and kids. I want everyone at the table to feel seen, respected, and free to enjoy the game however they want to engage. I use Session 0, safety tools, and private onboarding calls to make that happen. Every new player gets a brief one-on-one meeting with me before joining. This is a low-pressure space where we talk about expectations, comfort zones, and accessibility needs. During sessions, I check in regularly and maintain open communication, so anyone can speak up if something doesnāt feel right to make sure this table is the right fit for you and that everyone shares respect for one another. You deserve a space where you can show up fully as yourself!
