About the adventure

This game is perfect for beginners. I will lead you through the exciting forests and frightening bushes and then drop you off of the cliff straight into the adventure! The setting for this campaign is the most common one: A medieval fantasy adventure with goblins, dragons, orcs and kings. You will have to find your own place in this world and to guide you on your way your friend Gundren Rockseeker has asked you to help him on a secret mission. Will you succeed the way he intented, or will you find your own way? Failing isn't an option when the whole of Phandelver rests on your shoulders.

About me

Hi there, I am Lermu! I am an avid D&D fan and I love world building. I have found that the best way to do that is to let the players shape the world they live in. I design worlds with a certain starting point and some vague direction for it to go, but let players make the ultimate decision. I have experience both as a player and as a DM. I love roleplaying and I hope to find other people who feel the same. I let myself dive deep into most of the things I do, and I will do my very best to deliver an enjoyable experience to my players.

Character creation

Creating your character

It is good to have at least a vague idea for a character, but no worries if you don't. We will have session 0 dedicated for rules and going through everyone's character. The character can be any level 1 class and species listed in the 2024 core rules. I am happy to help each and everyone of you to create a character you can get invested in. If you want to use something homebrewed, you will have to get it checked by me. I want this game to be fun and fair to everyone.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need an account on Discord and DnDBeyond. I will invite you all to a discord server and there I will guide you through the rest of the progress. This game is solely theater of the mind, so no Virtual Table Top (VTT) required. Also I recommend investing in your own set of dice and a printed out character sheet. You'll miss half the fun without them.

What Lermu brings to the table

I use a lot of voices and personalities for my characters. I like to have music on to deepen the ambiance, but we will talk about it in session 0. I allow you to make the choices. I will guide you when you need it, but let you make the difficult choices. Rule of cool is the way I roll. If you can make it work, I will allow it. If I make an exception from the official rules, I will let you know and explain the correct rule. This is just to help you memorize the rules in the future. The most fun part of this is the roleplay and I lean heavily into that. And to balance it, the combat is exciting and has high stakes. I am very much on the edge on the topic of distractions. I will allow you to do what you want outside of the game, as long as you make sure to stay on top of things. If it seems to me that you are missing key information or forgetting to prepare for your turn in combat because of an outside distraction, I will have a chat with you about it.

Homebrew rules

Death saves are rolled out of view of the rest of the party. Other than that I don't know how to summarize. If you can explain your action and intention in a way that feels sensible and the rest of the party agrees it to be fair, I will let the dice decide.

Safety

How Lermu creates a safe table

I will ask all my players to give me a private list of things they don't feel comfortable coming up in the game and I will compile them into a single list. In session 0 we will go over the list together and make sure everyone agrees to it. Everyone will have an X-, N, and O-card ready when playing and will either hold them up when necessary or send a message to me or the specified channel so that the situation is paused. I want to keep the option of pausing the game anonymously open just to make it a little bit easier in some cases. After the campaign has ended I will have a discussion privately and publicly with each one. I will also do random check-ups in between of sessions to minimize the chance of an unsafe environment. I also encourage each of my players to speak up if anything in my or the party's behavior starts to feel weird.
