About the adventure

Small town Gravenridge is a picturesque Canadian town along Lake Huron, one of the great lakes. It relies heavily on tourism and its reputation as a cosy and fun summer destination spot. Its tagline is "Canada's prettiest town," displayed proudly on the welcome sign into town. But the town holds some dark secrets, and something dangerous lurks in the wilderness surrounding it. This is intended to be a mini Monster of the Week, a play-by-post or text-based campaign using Discord.

About me

Hello, my name is Cheyenne. I've always had a desire to play D&D and finally got the chance to play while studying in University. I was working and going to school so I didn't often have the time to play. Eventually, I discovered text-based TTRPG and at the same time, I discovered games beyond D&D. I very quickly jumped into running games myself as GM and have now accumulated over 6 years of experience running games through text, in person, and virtually. I especially love Powered by the Apocalypse games. I have 6 years worth of experience running games in person, virtually, and through text. I had the opportunity to mix my career with my passion for roleplaying games when I developed and ran a TTRPG program through a medical health centre. I'm very much interested in the connection of wellness and play and using TTRPG's for therapeutic or educational purposes. I like exploring different systems and genres from darker themes and settings, to the more silly and lighthearted. It's important to me that no matter what system I run I provide an inclusive, welcoming, safe, and fun experience for whoever finds their way to my tables.

Character creation

Creating your character

All official playbooks are on the table come with a few playbooks you are excited to play. This is a rich custom setting with a lot of lore. I encourage you to read the lore document and create a character that really fits within the setting and has strong ties to the town. A designated day will be session zero where we do character creation and pick histories.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

- free discord account - familiarize yourself with the MotW rules - have two - three playbook ideas ready to go - excitement and enthusiasm - join the discord https://discord.gg/eKbBdXCj - You will write your character sheet directly into a designated channel for ease of reference for other players and me - feel free to add backstory and other information to your sheet, but only tell me in DMs something if you want it to be surprise to other players

What Cheyenne brings to the table

- a completed discord for out-of-character and in-character channels - channels dedicated to the main town location complete with visuals - the rules and playbooks in a separate channel easily accessible - settings channel - designated notes channel for players - posting daily to set the scene and keep the story moving forward with occasional bursts of posts during heavy roleplay or combat situations. Pace and frequency will be adjusted to the needs of the table as we go - my games are run Rules as Written with a heavy dose of Rule of Cool.

Homebrew rules

I am using the Roll for Luck Rules that will be available as a cheat sheet

Safety

How Cheyenne creates a safe table

You will be able to send me your lines, veils or conditions publically or privately. The collection will be displayed in a channel so we can all regularly review it. An out-of-character chat will be encouraged for the use of debriefing and discussion of character moments outside of the same without breaking the flow. You can use X, N, and O in these chats as well.
