About the adventure

In Aeons past, the land that would be known as elece came to be after numerous higher being known as the entities came upon a desolate planet and gave life to it shaping it in their image, from the fields of dausholm to the deserts of serdonos and the icy reaches of keldmeyr. However these gods were selfish and sought to dominate one another to be the being above all beings. They created the mortal races for the sole purpose of believing in them and waged battle against each other across centuries. This belief had the side effect of creating lesser gods from their essence creating unwanted pantheons. The battles they waged culminated in a mortal rebellion that almost broke their beloved world in the process, plunging the mortals into an age of regression and darkness and scattering the essence of the entities to the wind. We follow the people of elece at the ending of the age of innovation, where great technologies were invented and discovered, fused with magic to begin an arcano-tech revolution. Out story begins 100 years past the ending of this age. But 20 years ago the entities had begun to resurrect themselves but were foiled at the hands of a warrior attempting to destroy all magic. This warrior was defeated by a band of heroes who chose to keep the entities dead but the lesser gods and veins of magic intact. In the midst of great change the major city of uldervale and its lord baron Kai Oserros has invited heroes and lords across the continent of Dausholm to celebrate his final days and name the heir to his seat as head of the baronies of the country of trysthurst. You, adventurers, are among the many invites, already heroes of great renown but brimming with even greater potential. As a time of upheaval and a vacuum of power is just days way how will you rise to the challenges on the horizon? Starting at level 10 and ending at lvl 20 and perhaps beyond, this campaign will already see our heroes as established figures in the world who will rise even further beyond, travelling vast oceans and even dimensions to deal with a world still dealing with the turmoil of heroism past. Fight an empire of dragons, corrupted undead lords and great leviathans all to maintain peace or pegraps destroy it. When the dust settles and you stand above the rest will you be the same person you were when you began, or has strife, power and epic adventure changed you irrevocably? Perhaps there is only one way to find out.

HI there! I'm Cheese or Tahmid if food based nicknames upset you. Like many of you I'm just another guy who got quickly enamoured with these wonderful games where we roll dice, fight monsters and tell epic stories, I still remember being young and bright eyed, playing my first game of Dnd5e at the tender age of 13. Now that game was not very good but fate kept Ttrpgs in my path as while stuck in quarantine it was the presence of actual plays that made a miserable moment of history tolerable. Now I was thoroughly hooked and raced to find the first online game that would take me. since then I've played in all manner of games from large living worlds of a hundred people steeped in combat to small intimate campaigns with deep roleplay and emotional turmoil, adventuring alongside all manner of players from the min-maxers to the casual players. It wasn't long before it wasn't enough to be a part of these worlds but to be a part of shaping and creating them myself and I turned to GM-ing. That was 5 years ago and I've never looked back since. I have built large homebrew worlds, mildly complex dungeons and the occasional 5 min puzzle that took way longer than necessary. all while abusing my Pinterest board like any good player does. While I started in DnD5e I've since had experience with Pathfinder 2e, VTM 5e and 20th edition and of course my current obsession: Daggerheart!!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be making characters through a nifty website through dndbeyond with your characters joining my campaign which will have a healthy amount of content shared to you. We will be starting at level 10 so feel free to go as crazy or as tame as you'd like with builds and mechanical optimisation there will be ways for every your pcs to shine and do the thing you made your character's to do. For stat generation we will do rolled stats with 3 groups rolled and the desired group chosen. You may use either version of the rules when it comes to spells feats classes and subclasses. We will be using 2024 as the base ruleset however so backgrounds must come from the 2024 phb and subsequent materials. However apart from that all books are allowed. I quite enjoyed homebrew and so long as we have ways of making sure it automates well in roll20 and I've given a stamp of approval you may play your witch hunter and revised ranger to your hearts content! Additionally if dndbeyond isn't for you I am happy for you to use dicecloud or making your sheets directly on roll20. I have a few tools to hopefully streamline the latter as well. We will be discussing all of this in more detail at session 0.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please have accounts on roll20, discord and DnD beyond. Upon joining you will receive a link to discord server for voice calls which will have links to both the roll20 table and the DnD beyond campaign! Additionally while optional the beyond 20 extension available for most browsers will be incredibly helpful for rolling in game!

What Cheese brings to the table

I will be providing an original homebrew setting with ongoing worldbuilding you will be contributing to with your actions and characters! I will be creating high stakes adventures loaded with challenging and tactical combat against unique monsters and sometimes men more often than not homebrewed for your specific game. I will often gift homebrew items and spells for your use against the terrors of the world. This doesn't mean we will be lax on roleplay either, while combat may take the forefront some sessions others may see you in situations of political intrigue, fighting a dragon one session only to be stuck in a high Queens ballroom the next. Npcs will be varied with their own personalities and interests and while I am no professional I will try to give each a unique voice and physicality to be recognisable to players immediately.

Homebrew rules

- We will be using crunchy crits as the default critical hit option. - we will be occasionally using side initiative in combats with a larger scale of combatants. This is when all players/allied npcs and all enemies roll initiative as a group and go all at once per group turn. This allows interesting and new ways for players to interact and combo moves as they may go at the same time. The same however is true for your enemies..... -if there are any homebrew rules you'd like to see please feel free to suggest it at session 0

How Cheese creates a safe table

All safety tools will be discussed and reiterated in session 0 but I will jump at the chance to go over them here too. Importantly every session will have regular breaks and debrief of what just happened with a minimum of one between one and one and a half hours in. This may double. After every session we will also do another debrief and cool down. We will check in with each other, make sure we're all ok and nothing was too distressing and uncomfortable for the players. I will always say your mental health comes first, if you need to leave, if you need to call for a break, if you need to reset please just send me a message privately and the other players will not need to know anything past the fact that I initiated it. This goes double for our use of X N and O cards which will also be sent to me privately as simply sent letters on PMs. Your safety is first and if a scene needs to be altered or removed it will be altered or removed no matter how much the other players enjoy it it is not worth your distress.
