About the adventure

This campaign takes place in Eastravia, the last bastion of humanity following a global catastrophe. Ten years ago, portals spontaneously appeared around the world, allowing demons to enter and decimate the population, leaving only Eastravia standing. Humanity faces extinction, and survival depends on advanced technology developed by Professor Samuel Rodriguez and his company, Lykka PMC. At the forefront of the fight is N.Y.X., a powerful but flawed biotech weapon that links to select operators, granting abilities unlike anything else. Only certain individuals are compatible, and the race to test for N.Y.X. has led to morally gray and sometimes reckless decisions. In some places, testing is mandatory, and even criminals who are compatible may be pardoned to serve as operators. You are humanity’s hope. As a potential N.Y.X. operator, you will explore the origins of the portals, confront deadly demons, and navigate a morally complex world where every decision has consequences.

About me

Hi! My name is Chris. I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs, primarily Dungeons & Dragons, for 4 years and have 3 years of experience as a Game Master. I enjoy creating collaborative, player-focused sessions where everyone’s voice is heard and valued. I run both homebrew worlds and traditional adventures, with a focus on giving players the freedom to explore, roleplay, and make meaningful choices. I prioritize the players’ experience, providing personalized lore for each character to help them immerse themselves in the world and stand out at the table. My style emphasizes fun, creativity, and collaboration. I believe in the rule of cool—if it makes the game more enjoyable for the group, I’m flexible with the rules. Sessions are chill but engaging, with a balanced mix of roleplay, problem-solving, and tactical combat. Every player’s story matters, and I aim to create memorable experiences for the whole table.

Character creation

Creating your character

I volunteer 1 page of lore for everyones character of lore and information only their character would know, this written both to help with RP and to immerse players in each other's characters. I will do character creation one on one with each player. This is to ensure they all fit into the world of blightroot and have their own corner they come from to help their backstory influence the main story. This isnt a traditional swords and sorcery game so i will be collaborating with players one on one to make sure their choice of class/race fit

What to expect

Preparing for the session

most prep will be done on the personal session. either be ready to use roll20 or let me know you dot know how so i can teach you. have access to someway of keeping track of your character (i reccomend dnd beyond)

What chris: goblin approved gm brings to the table

i provide a full vtt for all maps and combat. i vollunteer a page of lore for your character. i run music on a youtube stream that i adapt to the situation. i run a discord server for the group to vc and communicate

Homebrew rules

i run various homebrew rules for combat these will be gone through before session 1. other than the rule of cool. for this campaighn i will be running a team action which can be taken once per combat. these actions are unlocked and expanded as you level up and progress your relationship as players. an example of a homebrew rule i run no opportunity by default. enemies unless they have a special trait dont get opportunity. many enemies have a trait which allows them to dodge opportunity.
