About the adventure

Welcome to Barovia! I plan on introducing horror elements, but I do go over safety with each new player to the game and have lines and viels listed in the discord for everyone to see. If a rough, horror game with occasional comedy, welcome aboard! I want to tell stories of Vampires and madness. Sounds like fun? Come on in then.

About me

I enjoy playing dnd, have since I was a young girl, and started playing dnd again a bit when I was nineteen. When the pandemic started, I decided to look for one thing that I could do online...play dnd. I've been playing 5th edition rather consistently since then. Have completed three campaigns, and one of those was one I dmed for my friends. I decided to start dming professionally after hearing my friend and several other dm's at Dragon Con, about professional dming. I am currently dming a module campaign of Candlekeep with my own characters added and own story woven into the background of the game. I plan on seeking out other games that I am interested in and possibly dming them in the future; Call of Cthulu, Dragon Age, Doctor Who, and a few more. If your curious about my dm style, I love to role play it out and I do love combat. Not so much murder hoboing it out, but some times, it could get a little heavy with combat. My NPC's have backstories, and most of them are romancable but that means rolling some percentage die and taking risks...as we all do in love. My players have said that my games are a fair variety with a mix of laughs and good times.

Character creation

Creating your character

First session will be a session zero, so expectations can be set. Stats will be decided by rolling two sets of groups and choosing the best of two. If the dice gods fail, choose the standard array or point buy. The characters should be created on Roll20 or dndbeyond. This is Curse of Strahd, so try to stay faithful to that. Thank you.

The current party

We have a cleric and an artificer who walk into the tavern, who is next?

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Bring a mic, discord account, roll20 account and if you'd like, a dnd beyond account.

What Jess brings to the table

Custom maps, tokens, campaigns on D&D Beyond. I occasionally do character voices; I do embrace the Rule of Cool occasionally, but I mostly try to stick to the rules.

Homebrew rules

-Roll crit damage twice -If you get four rolls that are exactly the same, reroll the fifth one. If the fifth one is the same, sorry your just cursed. Probably by Strahd. -Any other rules that other players at the table agree with and with my permission.

Safety

How Jess creates a safe table

I will do a session zero, where we will go over expectations as well as lines and veils. If you don't know what these are, a session zero is where we go over expectations of each other. What you can expect from me, and what I can expect from you. Lines are hard nos, you would rather not see them in the game. Veils are things you are okay happening in the world around you but not directly to you. For example if the buildings in town were burning down but you didn't want to be in a burning building because it reminds you of something you've gone through and you'd rather not.
