About the adventure

A vicious young white dragon named Cryovain has swept down from the far north and claimed the Sword Mountains as its new dominion. Cruel, hungry, and relentlessly territorial, the dragon circles Icespire Peak from its stolen icy fortress, striking at travelers, homesteads, and wandering caravans. Each day its attacks spread farther, chilling the region with fear as much as frost. As Cryovain’s presence disrupts the wilds, trouble spreads across the land. Forests once safe become hunting grounds, forcing adventurers to fight off prowling monstrosities emboldened by the dragon’s upheaval. In the foothills, a desperate gnome settlement faces a mysterious monster stalking its pathways, unable to be detected by normal means. The townsfolk beg for heroes to uncover the creature’s origins before more of their number disappear. Displaced by Cryovain, a scattered tribe of orcs roams the valleys, lashing out at nearby farms. A remote ranch pleads for protection as orc raiders test its defenses and prepare a brutal assault. These orcs, furious over the death of their war chief at Cryovain’s claws, have turned to sinister allies—half-orc storm fanatics of Talos and slither serpents lurking in the shadows of Neverwinter Wood. Meanwhile, the region’s lifelines begin to crumble. A vital local mine has become infested with monstrosities, trapping miners inside. An important figure—an expert needed to restore operations—must be escorted safely through hostile territory patrolled by strange creatures. Even the skies are no refuge; manticores, driven from their own hunting grounds, strike with desperate ferocity at travelers and outposts alike. All paths lead inevitably toward confrontation with Cryovain, whose icy reign threatens to smother the entire region. To restore peace, heroes must rally towns, quell marauding threats, drive back summoned horrors, and unravel the chaos spreading from the mountain’s frozen crown. Only the brave can challenge Cryovain and end the terror sweeping across the Sword Mountains.

About me

My name is Jeff, but in the realm of adventure, you can call me JJ. I'm a passionate GM who believes D&D is much more than rules and maps. The true magic lies in the shared stories, the unforgettable good times, and the genuine connections we forge. I've been in the hobby for about four years and behind the GM screen for the past year. My guiding principle is simple: an unwavering commitment to entertain you above all else, while ensuring every session is a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space. The cornerstone of my GM approach is fostering an environment where every participant feels valued, respected, and included. I'm firmly convinced that RPGs unite people across all unique backgrounds and identities. My focus is crafting a haven where players are encouraged to be completely authentic and unleash their creativity without fear of judgment. I achieve this through thoughtful world-building, proactive communication to address any concerns, and by consistently creating moments for every player to shine and embody their hero. My ultimate goal is that everyone leaves the table feeling acknowledged, understood, and truly valued. As a GM, I'm highly flexible, often favoring "rule of cool" over strict adherence to the rules when it makes the story more exciting! I pride myself on being incredibly communicative and responsive—you will always get a direct reply back from me within a few hours at most, guaranteed. Come join one of my games, and let's craft an epic tale together!

Character creation

Creating your character

The character creation process will be handled prior to our session zero as I highly prioritize character backstories and integration into the campaign. I also like to take this time to get to know the players individually and see how they think. We will be using DnD Beyond for character creation as well as for the Virtual Tabletop. Specific details regarding allowable content from various sourcebooks and other sources will be discussed in more detail during our 1-on-1 calls. However, players can confidently rely on 2014 core rulebooks and materials to ensure they are building an approved character. While creativity and exploration is encouraged, I will make sure to provide the necessary guidance on which D&D materials are approved. If I happen to not own the exact book a feature you would like is in, we can discuss possibilities including me purchasing the necessary content or creating a homebrewed version of it. That being said, ALL homebrew and Unearthed Arcana materials must be vetted and approved by the DM. It doesn’t hurt to ask but please be open to further discussions regarding the content in question. For stats, you will be rolling two sets of stats following this format: ~ Roll 4d6s and drop the lowest die ~ Rinse and repeat six times for each set of stats All characters will start at 1st level, giving everyone a chance to grow and develop their characters together from the beginning.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Microphone: Players will need a microphone for voice communication during the game sessions. Clear communication is essential for gameplay, so having a functional microphone will ensure everyone can participate effectively. Discord Account: Players should also have a Discord account for voice communication and out-of-game discussion. We'll use Discord for voice chat during our game sessions and for any additional communication between sessions. DnD Beyond Account: Players will need to create an account on DnD Beyond, a virtual tabletop platform, where we'll be hosting our game sessions and managing character sheets, maps, and other game elements. Familiarity with Rules: While not mandatory, it's helpful for players to have a basic understanding of the rules of the game system we'll be using. I'll provide guidance and support during character creation and gameplay, but having a general knowledge of the rules can streamline the process. Watch2Gether Account: While not absolutely necessary, all music will be hosted from this website. You can join as a guest or you can create a full FREE account. This site allows for ad-free music to be played during sessions as I prefer to not stream music directly from Discord. Website URL= https://w2g.tv/en/

What JJ brings to the table

I aim to provide a premium, unforgettable role-playing experience built on clear expectations and maximum immersion. GM Style & Tools: ~ Narrative Focus: My games blend deep, character-driven roleplay with strategic, high-stakes tactical combat. Every session is designed to balance immersive storytelling with dynamic gameplay, shaped entirely by your choices. ~ Vocal Immersion: While my character voices may not be Oscar-worthy, I genuinely try to give key NPCs distinct tones and mannerisms to bring the setting to life. ~ Ambient Music: We utilize ambient music and soundscapes played via a Watch2Gether room to enhance the atmosphere. I'm always open to allowing players to suggest music to fit a specific scene! ~ Combat Intensity: Expect a full spectrum of combat. Encounters will range from quick skirmishes to intense, highly tactical, near-deadly boss fights. You should always be prepared for anything and everything. ~ Rules Philosophy: Rules as Written (RAW) serve as our essential foundation for fairness and structure. However, I am a huge proponent of the "Rule of Cool," and I have the tendency to lean toward rewarding clever, dramatic, and creative player actions when the moment calls for it. Clear Player Expectations: ~ Communication: I am highly responsive. I expect players to communicate clearly about attendance, scheduling conflicts, or any in-game concerns. ~ Preparation: Please ensure you have your character sheet, spells, and key abilities ready before the session begins to keep the flow smooth. ~ Respect: Maintain a supportive and inclusive atmosphere at all times. We are here to tell a collaborative story free from judgment. ~ No Metagaming: I strictly prohibit looking up module maps or monster stat blocks; stick to what your character knows! I'm committed to ensuring your time at my table is exciting, welcoming, and deeply memorable!

Safety

How JJ creates a safe table

Session Zero Rules: ~ Start by introducing ourselves and discussing our expectations for the campaign. This includes clarifying the tone and themes of the game, as well as establishing any house rules or expectations for player conduct. ~ We'll review any session zero rules, such as guidelines for PvP interactions, character death, or handling sensitive topics. ~ It's essential to establish a safe and respectful gaming environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves. Breaks: ~ Will try to have 1 five to ten minute break in the middle of session Stars and Wishes: ~ Would like to hear constructive feedback on what the players liked during the game, what could be done better, and how the game could be improved in the future. I am ALWAYS open to personal DM's about any of this or anything else that might concern you about the table in general, players at the table, me, etc. There is no way any of us can fix problematic behavior if we do not know there is a problem, so please speak up. All conversations with me will be private and confidential.
