About the adventure

The campaign setting is loosely based off of LANCER official lore, prior knowledge of lore will not be that relevant. You all will start off as employees of a upstart space exploration company gathered from across the galaxy either to work as security, engineer or management etc. Important thing is whether you are a prodigy, a secret war veteran or a technologically integrated android, You are able to pilot these metal suits, and pilot them well. The inciting conflict is due to your impulsive but competent company owner developing a revolutionary portable warp drive on accident, able to fit within a small sized carrier ship. This invention will undoubtably revolutionize charting and space exploration, but as such things go, they never stay a secret for long, people all across the planet will want to seize this technology for themselves and privatize its production, by all means necessary. Situated at the edge of the diaspora close to the 11th ring of Union occupied space. The company's goal has always been to chart the 42nd Space Way into Diasporan Space and create a whole new road of trade and discovery through space, question is...will you make it in time to leave this god forsaken planet before all these greedy bastards get a hold of that drive? This game is based around a more light-hearted but also at times emotional theming. Think Cowboy Bebop x Space Dandy x Gurren Lagann in terms of vibes. Narrative Roleplay will be a heavy focus of the entire campaign, where combat will stand as a climatic clash between hot-blooded emotions and ideals. (warning: adversaries will try to taunt you via-comms.) (Meaning this is not a campaign where we brush through the story and do a combat every session!!! We want emotional and personal stakes !!) Additionally, I am going to be making original art for factions, characters, player characters, battlemaps and Mechs. Which is a big reasoning for why this game is ran bi-weekly and not weekly. You can check out some of my art on @grit_osha on instagram.

About me

My favorite games to GM are CAIN and LANCER, In a sense they are polar opposites in terms of Game systems but in my eyes they both stand as phenomenal emotion driven story-telling engines. I'm a relatively newer DM compared to the others on this site, but I bring a fresh pair of eyeballs on the hobby and am more than happy to have beginners come and join the table, judgement free. I stand hold only 1 rule, "Get more engaged in your party member's stories than even your own." That to me has always been the key to having a fun time as a group and fulfilling your wildest supernatural or mechanical fantasies. I'm also an artist on the side, so feel free to ask me for commissions and such, my games typically already come with me drawing a portrait for your pc or what not when you start making your character. Also been looking into mythic bastionland lately, might run that sooner or later...... keep ya eyes peeled.

Character creation

Creating your character

Session zero will be primarily reserved for Character Creation with the remainder being an explanation of the themes and a brief on the setting. I will sketch out with you in real-time the general look and aesthetic of your pilot and continue on forward. Do note, I would like your pilot to have an in-depth backstory, motivations and some sort of physical existence they deeply care for. (Hometown, Family, Friends, Pet, Lover ,etc.) Do note, it will be preferred if you had a general idea of a character you want to play as before our session zero. However, don't hold too dear to that character concept just yet before we make it concrete on session zero. The very essence for the session zero is to find out who your pilot is and what is the very thing that drives them to pilot the mech, is it for the thrill? the fame? the fortune? a Vendetta? a secret agenda? For honor? This motivation is very important and is central for me being able to provide your character a conclusion where they can reach a satisfying end.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

First make sure you have the relevant accounts for Foundry VTT and Discord. As well as a audible microphone for the games.

What Grit brings to the table

I like to do voices although I admit to not be the best at them, I will also be creating original maps and token art for elements of the world, which is the primary reason why this game is ran bi-weekly, it is a lot of heavy prep work and illustration on the GM side of things. Also as per player who joins, they will receive in a sense a *commissioned* artwork/portrait for their pilot.
