About the adventure
Step into Gearford, a sprawling steampunk city of brass towers, clanging gears, and steam-powered wonders. During the city’s annual Brasslight Jubilee, the streets are alive with floating lanterns, mechanical parade floats, and the rhythmic clanging of brass bands. But this festival is unlike any other. The Aurelius Spire, the city’s ancient clock tower and heart of its time-bound magic, holds a dangerous secret—and when its master horologer falls, time itself begins to unravel. In Chimes of Endless Day, your party is thrown into a looping day, where only you remember the events that repeat again and again. Each cycle brings new clues, hidden dangers, and opportunities to experiment. You will need to think creatively, investigate the city, and carefully navigate the paths of the festival to uncover a sinister plot. This is a mystery-driven adventure designed for players who enjoy using their wits and curiosity. There will be challenges that reward clever problem-solving, careful observation, and social interactions as much as combat skill. You may encounter swarms of mechanical constructs, elusive figures moving in the shadows, and curious townsfolk with secrets of their own. Each loop is an opportunity to gather more information, try new approaches, and inch closer to unraveling the puzzle. The game is beginner-friendly, but ideal for intelligent, thoughtful characters who enjoy solving problems, piecing together clues, and exploring a richly detailed setting. While combat may occur, the true path to success is understanding the city, the mechanics of the loop, and the motives of those involved. Expect an immersive steampunk atmosphere with clockwork devices, brass-lined streets, airships hovering above, and the constant hiss of steam around every corner. You’ll explore bustling markets, mechanical workshops, festival grounds, and the towering Spire itself as you piece together the mystery that traps the city in endless repetition. The adventure is designed for Level 3 characters and can be played in a single session. All rules will use the D&D 5e, 2024 rule set. This is a self-contained story with twists, moral dilemmas, and surprises that unfold differently depending on the choices you make and the clues you uncover. Will you break the cycle before it consumes the city—or be trapped in the same day forever? Sharpen your wits, prepare your gadgets, and step into the mechanical wonderland of Gearford, where every chime could mean life—or another endless loop.

Creating your character
(This is a 3rd level adventure) Players should have their characters fully created, including stats, abilities, and equipment, before the session begins to ensure the game starts on time. Ability scores may be chosen using the standard array or by rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest die, following Player’s Handbook rules. Homebrew options are allowed, but please check with me beforehand so I can review and confirm balance. Characters should be set up in Roll20. Instructions are included below the game listing — please check those first. If you have a sheet as a PDF and cannot input it, send it to me 1–2 hours before the session so I can upload it for you. If you are a new player needing help with character creation, let me know in advance so I can assist before the session, avoiding delays. Also, please inform me if your character is already in Roll20, so I can review the sheet and ensure everything is ready for gameplay. The goal is to make character creation efficient and stress-free, allowing all players to focus on strategy, roleplay, and enjoying the adventure.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before the game, please make sure you have the following: Accounts & Platforms Discord – A free account is required. This is where we’ll communicate, roll dice, and run the session. Please make sure your mic is working and that you’re in a quiet environment. Roll20 – A free account is also required. This is where your character sheet will live and where the game board and interactions happen. After signing up, you will receive an invite link from me to join the game session. Once you join, I will provide a character sheet in your Roll20 Journal. Character Sheet & Token Preparation Please fill out your character sheet in Roll20 before the session. If you encounter any issues, you can send me a PDF of your character sheet, and I can input it for you. Please send this 1–2 hours before the session to allow time for setup. Character Image: Please provide an image of your character via Discord when signing up. This will be used to create your token for the battle maps, so your character is represented visually during play. Equipment & Environment A working microphone is required. A quiet space free of distractions is important for immersion and game flow. Optional but recommended: headphones for clearer audio and better focus. Other Recommendations Be ready to take notes, as this is a mystery-focused, investigative session — clues are important. Make sure your internet connection is stable to avoid disruptions. If you’ve never used Roll20 or Discord before, log in a few minutes early to test your setup.
