About the adventure

Magerest Hollow: an idyllic, mountain side town surrounded by sprawling estates and beautiful forests is a quiet place known for both peaceful views and scientific progress. At least, it was, until a few years ago when rumors of demonic possessions and dark magic began to swirl and reach neighboring settlements. It's said that the Countess Viktoria Herczog turned to dark magic in a desperate effort to preserve her own youth after the untimely death of her late husband and was corrupted by it. Now, she bathes in the blood of the innocent while the demons she set loose have descended on Magerest Hollow, preying on the townsfolk. A desperate call to the outlying towns and cities requests the aid of adventurers brave enough to face the unknown evils of the Countess's dark bargains and rescue the missing daughter of one of Magerest Hollow's citizens. As the trees surrounding Magerest Hollow turn black and the rivers running through the mountain turn red with blood, can our adventurers uncover the secrets of the Countess of Blood before there's nothing left to save? - - - This is a short-term campaign (approximately 10-12 sessions) spanning levels 5-8 filled with gothic horror tropes. Game play focuses heavily on roleplay with a good mix of high-stakes combat. My tables focus on creating a safe space for marginalized communities and telling feminist forward stories.

About me

My name's Erin, also known as Travel Nerd Erin. I'm a nurse educatorby trade who also has a deep love for storytelling. I've been a GM/storyteller for over 15 years. My deep loves are gothic horror and Asian folklore inspired stories. I've had the opportunity to DM stories of my own making at events like Gen Con and D3 at Sea, and it is an honor to have such a variety of opportunities to facilitate weaving incredible stories with people from all over the world. While D&D tends to be my primary focus as a GM, I also love other systems! I'm particularly interested in Through the Breach, Vampire the Masquerade, and a number of Powered by the Apocalypse games. Exploring diverse settings and systems is a love of mine, and I love to introduce folks to new options in gaming.

Safety

How Erin (aka TravelNerding) creates a safe table

Please be advised that this is a gothic horror game that will feature descriptions of blood, gore, violence, death, and madness. This storyline also deals with themes such as patriarchal viewpoints and the silencing of women's voices (with the goal to both see the harm they cause as well as subvert and alter those views, granted) and prospective players should take into consideration their own comfort levels in exploring those themes. Prior to session zero, all players will be asked to fill out a survey regarding lines and veils. These lines and veils will be given to all players in an anonymously compiled fashion. Players will be expected to adhere to lines and veils. The X card will be available for use in a displayed or messaged fashion (depending on the individual player's comfort level) during games. A roughly 10 minute break is planned for mid 3-hour session but additional breaks can be taken if needed by the group. Players are also welcome to step away if needed. Debriefing as well as Stars and Wishes will be utilized at the end of each session.
