About the adventure

Grab a seat in this welcoming group, and join our growing discord server, where pick-up and free games can happen! Lords of the New Wilds, will be player driven, with the story crafted from your backstories and in-game choices. Experience the story you dream of for your character! *** For as long as memory reaches, a dark blight has eaten away at the edges of the world, forever growing and never ceasing. Safe lands dwindled, and souls from every corner of the world were pushed into an ever-shrinking center. Extinction and doom were all but certain; it was only a question of when. What was left of the world had come to accept its fate, to be snuffed out and swallowed by the insatiable blight. Until one day, without explanation, it began to withdraw. Lands not seen for an age began to see sunlight once more, and soon many turned their eyes to what hidden treasures might be revealed. The New Wilds are not a promised land. They are a question, an unwritten story, waiting for new lords to take the quill and make their mark. An old, forgotten world is becoming new again. A world resigned to extinction finally sees a ray of light through the darkness. Is the blight leaving for good, and why? What terrible and amazing things will be left in its receding wake? Who will become the Lords of the New Wilds?

About me

Hello all! I’m Seth (Aby) , an avid Game Master and player of 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons, Monster of the Week and other PbtA games. I am happy to run games for new and experienced players alike. I typically run homebrew games, but I have been known to occasionally run published adventures as well. Let’s go questing!

Character creation

Creating your character

Feel free to come with some ideas but keep in mind that this is a brand new world that we, the gm and players, will build together during character creation/session 0!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord, Roll20, optional: D&D Beyond, Beyond20

What Seth (SideQuest Games) brings to the table

Ambient music, tailored narratives, collaborative world building, voices, reasonable rule of cool, battle maps and mood setting images.

Homebrew rules

Inspiration: Always start a session with 1 free inspiration dice Potions: Drinking a potion as a bonus action works normally—roll for healing. If you take a full action, your healing potion restores its maximum value. Administering a potion to another character always takes a full action. Crunchy Crits: A natural 20 deals maximum weapon dice damage before modifiers. (d6 = 6, d8 = 8, etc.) NPC Death: NPCs do not make death saves. If they go down, they’re gone. Resurrection: Magic that cheats death is extremely rare, tightly controlled, and feared. In this world, resurrection is a dark, necromantic art, and its use carries both moral weight and narrative consequences. Rests: Rests can only be done in safe areas. Bastions: Want to build a home base? We can use the bastions rule set from the DMG

Safety

How Seth (SideQuest Games) creates a safe table

This is an inclusive group, and everyone deserves to feel welcome at the table. Hate or discrimination won’t be tolerated. We’ll talk about safety tools in Session 0, and I’m happy to use—or learn—anything that helps the group feel comfortable and cared for. Keep in mind the content warnings may or may not actually come up in the game.
