About the adventure

Run by a 5★ DM with 850+ hosted sessions and a focus on immersive roleplay, fast combat, and memorable storytelling. As a welcome bonus, your first session is FREE so you can get a feel for my DMing and the party! The Crooked Moon is a dark folk-horror campaign set in Druskenvald—a land of mist-choked forests, crooked superstitions, and villages cut off from the outside world. When the Ghostlight Express delivers you into the isolated valley of Wickermoor Hollow, you find yourselves trapped beneath an impossible moon and surrounded by people who follow the Old Ways a little too closely. This campaign blends eerie mystery, rural horror, and strange folklore. You’ll uncover unsettling rituals, navigate isolated communities with skewed moralities, and face creatures that feel like they walked out of whispered bedtime stories. Expect atmospheric roleplay, slow-burn tension, and moments where the supernatural and the uncanny collide. Players can create characters shaped by this strange realm or outsiders drawn into it. The journey will take you from level 2 to 14 as you uncover the truth behind the Crooked Man, the horned beast in the woods, and the dark will of the Crooked Queen. Above all, this is a collaborative folktale: immersive, character-focused, and steeped in dread. No experience is required—new and returning players are welcome. If you enjoy atmospheric stories, character-driven adventures, and a blend of mystery, danger, and folklore, this campaign will feel right at home.

About me

Welcome, adventurer! I'm Craig, your Dungeon Master and dedicated guide through the realms of imagination. With a lifelong love for storytelling and fantasy, I’ve made it my mission to run immersive, character-driven games where every choice matters and no two sessions are ever the same. As a DM, I focus on player agency, rich roleplay, and dynamic worlds that respond to your actions. I draw inspiration from mythology, epic fantasy, and a whole lot of late-night dice rolls to craft campaigns full of heart, humor, and high-stakes drama. Whether you’re a battle-hardened hero or brand new to the game, I’ll make sure you feel welcome, empowered, and part of something unforgettable. I design everything—from cities to dungeons—with care, always aiming to create moments that stick with you long after the session ends. So grab your dice, ready your character sheet, and join me at the table. Let’s tell incredible stories, face impossible odds, and share laughs along the way. I can’t wait to roll with you. https://linktr.ee/craigdnd

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place before and during session 0, and I’ll work closely with each player to ensure your character fits the themes and tone of a folk-horror campaign. I’m happy to help you brainstorm concepts, refine backstories, or figure out mechanics. Starting Level: 2 Stat Generation: Standard Array or Point Buy Hit Points: Max at level 1, fixed average after Books Allowed: All official 5e content + The Crooked Moon player options. Additional content only with approval. Character Sheets: Created and managed in DnD Beyond and/or in Foundry VTT. This campaign welcomes both locals of Druskenvald and outsiders drawn into the valley, and I’ll help you tie your character into the setting no matter which route you choose. We’ll focus on creating characters who feel human, flawed, and rooted in folk-horror themes—people with beliefs, fears, and personal stakes in the story. During Session Zero, we’ll align expectations, establish party connections, discuss the tone of horror everyone is comfortable with, and finalize any character details. My goal is to ensure your character feels meaningful to the world and supported by the narrative from the very first session. All players, new or experienced, are welcome. If you need help building a character, I’m happy to walk you through the process step by step.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We use Discord for all voice chat, scheduling, and campaign communication. A link will be provided upon booking. The game is ran in Foundry VTT, a user account will be provided for you. Have a capable computer as Foundry won't run on tablets or mobile devices. A microphone is necessary and a webcam is optional.

What Craig brings to the table

I run a roleplay heavy game where you'll immerse yourself in the world and the colourful range of characters all voiced by me. Character voices for you are not mandatory but are welcome. I use background music/ambiance through a discord bot, sound effects are also occasionally used. I run a simple, efficient, fast paced combat style so things don't drag on for hours but don't expect an easy ride.

Homebrew rules

- No flanking rules are used to keep combat simple and quick - Spell scrolls can be used by anyone even if you're not a caster and/or it's not on your spell list you require a successful Arcana check for it to work. - Nat 1s and 20s apply in roleplay aswell as in combat so nat 1s always being a failure for example.

Safety

How Craig creates a safe table

During session 0, we’ll go over expectations, player goals, lines and veils, and any content you’d like to avoid or limit. This ensures the horror tone is something everyone is comfortable with. I also have tools built into foundry that enable us to stop the game if necessary. And of course my DMs are always open in the event you need to drop me a quick message.
