About the adventure

The Athira campaign is a high fantasy, grim setting in a vast, terrifying world. You'll join an ongoing adventure that might span for many more years. Uncover the plots of a deranged cult, unearth government secrets, rob banks and obtain items of legendary status. Currently the party is hot on the trail of a strange cult that is defiling the nature goddess' dominion. This campaign's story will be hand tailored to each player and all culminate in one final confrontation that dictates the future of Exalier. Your actions do matter, in more ways than you might expect. This is a fully homebrew, deadly campaign. Grimsical, high fantasy, horror. Deep lore, story lines yet sandboxy and enough to make you care. All power is earned, few is given. Investigate mysteries, plots and work to overthrow the evils at hand. We'll take on beginners and vets as long as you have a kind, compassionate and communicative attitude. ***Entry is strict and you will be interviewed beforehand to make sure you're a match. If I decide you are, you get a try out session, after which the existing players have to unanimously decide to let you in or not. All games are done via VC.*** This campaign has been going for +-3 years and will continue for many more. I do not want money, ***your payment will be time, commitment, community and respect.*** We are a table full of queer and ND girls in our 20s (its not a requirement but, birds of a feather.) Sessions can last a different amount of time depending on everyone's availability and desires, we've ran for 8hrs 1x/week, 4hrs 2x/week, right now we're running 4hrs 1x/week. We do our best to keep everyone in mind. This whole campaign is ***FREE**

About me

Hi, Im Artemissy -Arty for short-, Ive been DMing home games for about 2-3 years now and have always had a passion for storytelling. My style of play is self-serious/grim with a side of goofy and lighthearted, Im narrative and roleplay driven but I dont shy away from complex and tough combats, and I certainly dont shy away from unorthodox homebrew. Aside from that Im a trans woman, so my arrange of voice acting might be higher than most. If I sound interesting to you be sure to give me a try! (I am still learning and growing, I will slip up and make mistakes, Im not Brennan or Matt but I strive to be the best I can be. I aim to work together and ruleslawyering is welcomed when asked. Sources of inspiration include but not limited to: Frieren, Dungeon Meshi, Scavenger's Reign, Tengoku Daimakyo, Zom 100. Made in Abyss, The 100, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Critical Role, Dimension 20, Avatar, The Good Place, Hilda, Devilman Crybaby, BG3, D2, Disco Elysium, Elden Ring, BloodBorne, Absolver, SIGNALIS, Darkest Dungeon, ...)

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is done in collaboration with me and if you so wish, with another player. Drama and backstory is strongly encouraged. Your try out session character will be disposed of after such a session after which you'll make your definitive character.

The current party

The current party is composed of: - Great Old One Battlesmith - Hexblade College of Swords Bard - Grave Domain Cleric Generally the specific make of your character wont matter, we're more interested in the story you wish to tell.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A mic and good internet is required, make sure you can set time aside for dnd with little interruption (we require commitment but we are not unreasonable) Any source material I will gladly provide.

What Arty brings to the table

We play via discord and any maps via owlbear rodeo (both are free), all sessions are recorded for archival purposes. Character acting is greatly encouraged (and I do plenty characters/voices myself), we usually start the session with a brief hanging out and check in after which we pick a playlist to fit the vibes of the session. Everyone can put this on in the background to their preference, or not at all. RAI more than RAW, rule of cool is welcome but we dont loosely break the rules. Lotta homebrew too. Rules-lawyers are welcome too but as the DM I have the final say. Character progression is unique per player (standard leveling up via your sheet but also items, unique boons, etc.) I expect collaboration in this field, if not, your character is kinda screwed. Your PCs will come out stronger than the average 20th level character, but the monsters will match that with vigor and danger. Here's a review from our newest player: "If you're looking for role-play heavy game, this is a good stop for you. If you're looking for a very detailed play, with very close following of rules and story- this is a good stop for you. If you are looking for a long campaign and long sessions- this is a stop for you. If you are looking to commit to a dnd game- this is a perfect stop for you. Adventures in Exalier is one of those stories that at first seem like any other dnd story/fantasy story, but you'll see the more you get into it the more twisted, complex and intricate it gets. Arty is one hell of a DM. She narrates the story in a very clear and interesting way, always keeping you listening. She plays NPCs in a very versatile way. All of them, and believe me there's a lot, have their own personalities, gestures and voices- and she gets that across in such a seamless way. She is very supportive of her players, always gives them space for their ideas, or pushed them in a way that will help them. She is very understanding, if you are not feeling the part on the day of the game, she won't push you- she might get a little bit annoyed, but she won't hold it against you. Not just her, but the rest of the group as well. The players, even tho they are well versed into the dnd rules, story itself and their characters, will always make space for your tries and land you a helping hand if they see you struggling. So if you are looking for a campaign that will bring you into a little community- this is a good stop for you. If reading this seems as something very advanced and intimidating to you at the begining, believe me it is a space for a beginner too."

Homebrew rules

We play with crunchy crits, BA potions, personalized features, magical crafting, custom class features, etc. Honestly, there's a whole slew of things which we'll gladly teach you and you can learn slowly. Most things are intended to stay in the spirit of 5e but this campaign runs a lot more ridiculous and high powered to match the necessary spectacle for this world.

Safety

How Arty creates a safe table

Every interview is a session 0 too. We regularly check in with each other and everyone is free to call out something they do not feel comfortable with. I will not go explicitly out of my way to make you uncomfortable but nothing is off the table. We also regularly hang out as friends and look after each other, we deeply value open communication and encourage no hesitation.
