About me
"He’s like Mrs. Dalloway, but with dice." - my favorite review ever Well met, fellow human! Let's sit down and come up with a story, something that we'll be remembering fondly for years afterwards. Let's make up stupid voices and get all emotional over a fake donkey, let's turn up the battle music and feel tension as the enemy moves across the field. Let's create some badass moments. As you may have gathered, I'm a big fan of the collaborative nature of tabletop roleplaying. I believe the game runs best when I don't know what's going to happen next, you don't know what's going to happen next, and we're all just frantic with excitement about the next roll of the dice. We play to find out what happens.

Creating your character
We'll be making characters together during the introductory session, as well as creating the general world and theme of our campaign. You are free to discuss ideas with the group beforehand, but don't commit to anything until we decide on our setting.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players do not need to read the rules ahead of time but should prepare at least a basic understanding of the tropes in the JRPG genre this game emulates. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, all are solid points of reference.
What Brayden brings to the table
I will bring the Foundry VTT, an enthusiasm for dramatic storytelling, the Fabula Ultima ruleset, custom music, and thousands of hours of experience with tabletop gaming to the fore.

How Brayden creates a safe table
Players will discuss their content expectations and fill out a Lines & Veils document prior to the camapgin. In general, Fabula Ultima is a light-hearted game that features some discussions of violence, action, and adult subject matter, but handles it all with an eye towards PG-levels of content depiction. In Fabula Ultima, players assume the role of adventurers that travel the world, engage in turn-based strategic combat against monsters, and seek to heal the wounds left behind by the past. The rules are designed to encourage freeform exploration and narrative resolution of problems, with a more detailed engine to run combat in the classic style of tactical JRPGs from the 90s. Balancing party skills, vulnerabilities, monster abilities, and more will be crucial for victory. Players can always affect the ongoing story by spending a special resource called Fabula Points.
