About the adventure

The new 2024 Starter Set Adventure! Rebalanced and Extended! If you are curious about playing D&D 5e 2024, there is no better place to start. I've expanded Heroes of the Borderlands into a level 1 - 5 Campaign for anyone looking to learn how to play or experience a low-level adventure. This includes additional quests, magic items, locations, and an overarching story. Players will arrive in the Borderlands; an area far removed from civilization save for an independent keep of people trying to carve out a living. You'll help the keep's citizens, explore the surrounding wilds, and hunt for answers to the influx of monsters and marauders amassing just outside, all leading back to the Caves of Chaos. New Players will learn the ins and outs of D&D 5e 2024 as we go along, ensuring it remains entertaining every step of the way. There is also plenty here for experienced players to enjoy with a classic D&D Fantasy vibe set in a Sandbox adventure. Perfect for harking back to the first days of play or taking on a more casual game. This Includes a FREE Session 0, and those who come as a group of 3 or more receive a GROUP DISCOUNT.

About me

Hello Brave Adventurers! I'm the Dungeon Loaf (also called Bott), a DM with over 7 years of experience running D&D 5e. Now I'm hoping to put my experience to good use by running games for others beyond my table. Player fun and comfort are my main concerns. I primarily run Premade Adventurers, but make sure to change them as needed to fit the groups I run them for. I also employ a number of homebrew rule changes to help keep things balanced. That said, I do have plans to branch out into Homebrew Adventures once I have all of the needed resources pulled together. I hope to weave all kinds of wonderful tales with you through this weird little math rock game I love so much. New Players and LGBTQ+ are always welcomed.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will receive a FREE Session 0 in order to go over Character Creation. New Players will be guided through Character Creation during this session and explained the basic aspects. If you wish to get a head start, the following rules have been added to Character Creation: - Use Point Buy/Standard Array. Do not roll for Stats. - Do not roll for health. Always take the average, except at 1st Level where you take the max. - All Official Material and Homebrew Material I offer is Approved after the previously mentioned Balance Changes (See the "Homebrew Rules" section). - 2014 Players take a Free Feat at 1st Level (This does stack with Variant Human but does not stack with Feats obtained from 2014 Backgrounds). - 2024 Players choose any Origin Feat and Ability Score Increases rather than only those given with their Background.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Here is a list of things you must have for each session - A Discord Account - A Decent Microphone (Camera not necessary) - Roll20 Account (Free is all you need) - A Willingness to Learn the System if you are a New Player (Always happy to teach others how to play)

What Dungeon Loaf brings to the table

- Roll20 Pro Host Account - Music and Ambience - NPC and Monster Voices - Free Session 0 - Group Discount of $5 per person for those of 3 or more coming together (Note this does not mean Group Exclusivity. Possible Group Exclusivity can be discussed. Otherwise, players will be added whenever possible until the group cap or a comfortable number is reached). - Homebrew Items and Balance Changes (See the "Homebrew Rules" section) - Discord Server to chat with other players - Roll20 Access to TCE, XGE, MPMM, 2024 PHB, and Adventure Specific Materials - Selection of Homebrew Material for additional Character Creation Options (Including Backgrounds, Feats, Species, and a Revised Ranger)

Homebrew rules

(Note: While I have more extensive Homebrew Rules for my games, the nature of this Campaign means that only the essentials will be included as teaching the system takes priority. Integrating the rest of my Go-To Homebrew Rules and Balance changes can be discussed.) General Changes - Heroic Inspiration is used regularly (Not really a rule, just worth noting). - Death Saves are made in private. - Silvery Barbs is a 2nd Level spell. Specific Class/Subclass Changes - 2024 Rangers can choose to use a full reworked version I have prepared. - Bear Totem Barbarians only gain Resistance to three different damage types of their choice (excluding Psychic and Force) rather than everything but Psychic. - Twilight Cleric has several changes to its 1st and 2nd level features. Eyes of Night: You can only share the Darkvision with one creature, but can do so a number of times equal to your Wisdom Modifier per Long Rest. In addition, the creature only gains 60 feet of Darkvision. Twilight Sanctuary Channel Divinity: The Sanctuary provides Advantage against the Frightened or Charmed condition to all creatures (Chosen when used), but you must use your Bonus Acton each round to provide One creature within the Radius the Temporary Hit Points.

Safety

How Dungeon Loaf creates a safe table

Session 0 will include private one-on-one conversations in Discord over player lines and character backstories. As a group, we will go through character creation and discuss what is to be expected from the game while players voice what they want out of the game itself. The mechanical and story aspects of characters will remain private unless a player prefers to share. If a player has any issues during play, they can leave the table and message me privately at any time so as to not alarm others and keep personal issues private. If issues with other players arise, players should consult me immediately. Never be afraid to reach out if something or someone makes you uncomfortable.
