About the adventure

[Though Achtung! Cthulhu is listed as the game, this campaign is actually for Cohors Cthulhu, set in the time of the Roman Empire. ] On the distant frontier of the Roman Empire, Britannia remains a land of mist and mystery. Forests older than memory brood beneath shifting fog, and rivers carve through hills steeped in legend. Here, at the empire’s edge, the boundary between Rome’s order and something far older begins to blur. When a detachment of Roman reinforcements is stranded on Britannia’s shores, survival is only the first trial. Strange tales drift through the forts—whispers of unseen things in the dark, of roads no longer safe, of watchfires burning against more than mortal foes. Ordered to find a missing centurion, your PCs must cross hostile terrain, forge uneasy alliances, and face forces beyond understanding. Each step uncovers darker truths, leading them toward a secret buried deep in the heart of the island.

About me

Hello! I’ve been playing and running RPGs for the better part of 3 decades, professionally for 10. In that time I’ve introduced tabletop rpgs in kids’ programs (ages 8-13) and to adults of all ages. I love nothing more than bringing people into the hobby! I run an inclusive and respectful table that spans playstyles from a light, casual atmosphere to an immersive and deep experience. Over at www.thetabletopalmanac.wordpress.com you can read reviews I’ve done of a variety of games. Even if not listed on my profile, I’m available to run them all!

Character creation

Creating your character

Using the Cohors Cthulhu Player's Guide, we'll make characters together either in Session Zero, or the time leading up to the first session. They will be starting characters aligned with Rome.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have a mic, webcam is optional. Have a Discord account. Don't worry about the rules! Learn as you go! We'll use a VTT--either Foundry if anything is ready for it, or Owlbear Rodeo.

What Simon Kaye brings to the table

I'll do voices and try to use ambient music. Combat is fun and semi-tactical and the meta-mechanics allow your characters to do all sorts of cool things!

Safety

How Simon Kaye creates a safe table

I use whatever tools will keep everyone comfortable and having fun! My basics are to send out a consent checklist, use the X card, and ask for hard "nopes" regarding content. This all takes place in the Session Zero or beforehand. You are also encouraged to reach out, at any point, should something arise that crosses a previously-unknown (or unthought of) boundary!
