Korvosa is trembling beneath the weight of its own secrets. The streets feel tighter each day, choked by rising unrest, whispered rumors, and the scent of blood that never quite washes away from the gutters. Soldiers march with sharper eyes, nobles watch from behind shuttered windows, and the poor mutter that the city itself is sick. It begins with a single Harrow card, left where each character cannot help but find it. The card looks ordinary at first glance, yet the artwork feels almost alive, as if the ink shifts when not directly watched. Scrawled across its surface is a brief message written in a hand neither elegant nor crude, simply urgent. It calls each of them to a cramped fortune teller’s shop hidden in the winding alleys of the Midlands. The message hints at a name many thought forgotten. Gaedren Lamm. A petty criminal to some, a nightmare to others. Someone who shaped the worst parts of their pasts. Someone responsible for pain that was never answered for. The note promises truth and justice, or at least the chance to take both with their own hands. As each character turns the Harrow card over, it seems to thrum with faint warmth, like a heartbeat. The city around them feels suddenly watchful. A red-tinted moon rises over the roofs of Korvosa, and somewhere far away a bell tolls out of rhythm, as if warning them that the first thread of a much larger fate has just been pulled loose. Whatever waits in that hidden shop, it is clear this is no simple summons. It is the beginning of something that will shake Korvosa from its foundations, and perhaps claim the throne itself in crimson.
