About the adventure

The Briars are dying. Once a wild expanse of hinterlands where people and pokemon thrived side by side, the land is now choked with Scatterdust, a shimmering corruption spread by the evil Primarchs, ancient ascended pokemon who crave dominion over life. As villages vanish to their Dreamfog and allied settlements turn against one another in confusion, the tall city of Ricket has forged a great lantern to keep the Scatterdust from enveloping its walls. Standing alone at the edge of the wilds, Ricket now looks to press forward and reunite the Briars against their corrupted rulers. You and your pokemon stand with the Ricket Hundred, a band of brave souls sworn to push back against the Primarchs and their twisted generals. You must venture deep into the overgrown heart of the Briars, rally scattered survivors, and rekindle the bonds between people and pokemon before all is lost. Your lantern burns to stitch the world together again. This campaign uses the Pokémon Tabletop Reunited system alongside its Game of Throhs fantasy rule-set. This campaign will pit inexperienced but courageous defenders against impossible odds in a high-stakes adventure to rebuild a broken world.

About me

Hi all! I’m Jamie Emma, the Game Master behind Cozy Critical, a space where I hope to bring collaboration, cozy fun, and epic adventure together for people's enjoyment. Tabletop games should provide a restful outlet that helps us disconnect from the real world for a little while; I hope that my games can provide that for you! My table guidelines: - All are welcome, so long as you are welcoming to others. - Practice active listening during games. - Collaborate with other players when given the opportunities. - Allow other players their moments of spotlight. - Published, third-party and homebrew content may be used only if it has been vetted by me and it has a functioning Foundry VTT module to make gameplay accessible. My focus as the GM must remain on storytelling, not building computer automation for one's character. With over 5 years as a GM, 7 years playing TTRPGs, 6 years as a middle school science teacher, and 3 years in higher education I bring rich game mechanics together with an environment where players can feel comfortable learning new systems and trying new things. My goal is to create welcoming games that blend character development, emotional fantasy adventure arcs, and hopefully the right amount of chaos and silliness. Between a professional virtual tabletop setup and my past experience leading fantasy games, streaming TTRPGs, podcasting, and performing theater, I offer a strong foundation for us to build something special at the table. Whether you are new to TTRPGs or have played longer than I have, I hope you'll join me for some collaborative fun. Thanks so much, and I look forward to telling unforgettable stories together 💫

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created together on Foundry Virtual Tabletop during a free Session 0 with me, the GM! Please think of a broader concept for the type of trainer you wish to create. Keep in mind that trainer death (not their pokemon) is a possibility in this campaign!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Once you sign up for the game, I will share a Discord server invitation link with you :) All of the links you will need to explore the rule-set, to set up an account on our Virtual Tabletop, and to begin planning a character concept will be located in the Discord server.

What Jamie Emma brings to the table

I will take care of the world-building, NPC voices, in-game music, virtual tabletop, rules management, and player engagement. All I need from you is a willingness to explore the setting and build a story together!

Homebrew rules

Catching pokemon with poke-balls does not always require a successful capture roll in my games, as long as other skills and/or the appropriate RP are utilized. I will also be bringing Delta Pokemon from "Pokemon: Insurgence" into this game. Furthermore, some (though very few) pokemon will be able to speak human language.
