About the adventure

->TLDR: This campaign starts with a lowly group of Imperial soldiers and entangles them in a war of power within the Sith during the cold war between the Empire and the Republic. This campaign is ideal for those who like intrigue, battles with stakes, NPCs with morally gray motivations, and choices that really matter. If you've never played in Star Wars D6 campaign, this could be our opportunity to learn. If you've been missing the TTRPG system that defined much of Star Wars' original canon, then you will love this campaign. ->What to expect as a player: • A hand-crafted, original story based on the lore of Star Wars: The Old Republic but molded to fit the decisions of players at the table. • A chance to explore worlds within the Star Wars universe that have barely been touched in canon, new worlds that have never graced the pages or screen of a Star Wars story, and some of your old favorites before the movie saga introduced them. • An engaging skill and combat system made specifically to fit the Star Wars universe that has been actively enjoyed by players for decades. ->What to expect from the campaign: Five years after the Treaty of Coruscant, the Sith Emperor has gone still. No communication flows from the most powerful being in the galaxy. Each member of the Dark Council now fights for supremacy over their Spheres of Influence. Every governor in the Stygian Caldera hoards their own relics and resources in preparation for a possible civil war. You will begin in the service of Darth Jadus in the Sphere of Imperial Intelligence, but after the events of the first couple of sessions, other factions will tempt you into joining their cause by choice or by force. You think you're a simple soldier in the Emperor's military, but you will quickly learn that you are more than that. Perhaps you find that you have a gift for slicing into computer security systems. Perhaps you're a Mandalorian merc wanting to break free of her contract with the Empire. Perhaps you have a hidden connection with the Force and desire to become a Sith Lord yourself. Each choice you make will determine your future and perhaps the future of the Empire. ->Expect a defined arc for the campaign. I have 18 possible sessions over 6 months. But based on player choices, it might go longer. Expect a beginning, middle, and end to the story that you build. Of course, there is always a possibility for a second season.

About me

As an active member of online roleplay communities for over two decades, I have experienced nearly everything and now find the most joy in sharing those experiences with others. Science fiction (Cyberpunk) and space opera (Star Wars) have been my primary focus, but I do enjoy a good trip down fantasy lane (Conan, Dungeons & Dragons). I've been in roleplay spaces that have used many homebrewed systems (even making them up myself on occasion) and existing published systems like D&D 5e, Star Wars Saga Edition, SW5e, and Kids on Bikes, but by far, my favorite systems are skill-based systems like the original Star Wars Roleplaying game (D6). My tables tend to focus on creating compelling stories that allow for a wide range of emotion and depth. I believe that the biggest victories honor the characters by allowing them to lose with grace and triumph with strength. But a constantly solemn table is the pits, so please, bring your sense of humor with you to my table because I like to err toward what is funniest. I have worked in media for decades, so coming to my table, you'll see images, animation, and maps that you won't see anywhere else. One of those media jobs was covering Star Wars: The Old Republic for years, and before that, I helped found one of the largest Star Wars roleplay forums. In that setting, I bring adventures like no other. When it comes down to it, I am a theatre kid who enjoys telling collaborative stories and helping others explore their creativity.

Character creation

Creating your character

Prior to Session 0, I will have a one-on-one discussion with each player about their character and how they will fit in the current setting. The idea is to discuss what you are looking for, what is most intriguing and fun for you, and how best to get there. Besides the one-on-one session, I will be available on Discord to answer any questions you might have. Most everyone is familiar with Star Wars, but not everyone is familiar with the Old Republic setting, especially the Cold War Era. I would encourage you to play one of the Imperial storylines (Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor, Imperial Agent, or Bounty Hunter) in the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic to get a feel for the setting. It is an investment of time, so I don't expect everyone to have the time to do that. There are books on d6holocron.com that can guide you through the game system itself, with the Star Wars: The Old Republic Galaxy Guide being the primary source for stats. But again, it's not required reading. Ultimately, I will provide all the information you will need for creating a character in this campaign before Session 0, and all you have to bring is the will to learn and have fun.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The only account requirement with be a Discord account and the ability to use a microphone. A web camera is encouraged, but not required. I use Foundry VTT on a local server to run the game, so as long as you have an internet browser like Chrome or Firefox, you will be able to run the game. If you want some extra materials to help prep, these are the materials that I used to help build the campaign and will use them to build your character. The first is the Galaxy Guide for Star Wars The Old Republic, the second is the core rulebook for WEG Star Wars D6, and the last is the D6 Holocron wiki, which lists all character creation information we will ever need, ever. http://d6holocron.com/downloads/books/GG16_The_Old_Republic.pdf http://d6holocron.com/downloads/books/WEG40120.pdf http://d6holocron.com/wiki/index.php/D6_Holocron_Wiki

What Shaddoe brings to the table

->Basics to expect from me: • An environment to explore storylines that challenge and engage something meaningful. • An LGBTQIA+ safe environment with respect for who you are as a person and the encouragement to keep being you. • Respect for your time. We all have busy lives outside the game. I will respect that by being on time and purposeful in each session. • Respect for your neurodivergency. We are not all built the same, and it's those differences that make humans so amazing. • Respect for your energy. Whatever energy you put into the game, expect the same and more from me. More deeply, you can expect me to... ->Bring a deep and immersive story. I've been roleplaying in the Star Wars universe for literal decades. I love the classic universe with its rich setting as a foundation for an open world for you to explore. NPCs will have their own unique motivations and drives. You might also find me performing unique voices for each character. -> Allow you to tell your story. I have an idea where things might go, but the ultimate choice is up to you. We are co-writers, here. I remain flexible to the whims of the player characters and encourage everyone at the table to participate in developing the story. In fact, it will not be unheard of for me to ask a player to describe the setting or what the group finds when they reach the goal. ->Let the dice facilitate the story. I am not a rules lawyer. I believe the rules of the game are there to support the story we are telling, not completely block it. That said, I believe the dice rolls to be sacred, and the Rule of Cool should be rare and meaningful. ->Bring you a safe environment. I have concent forms, lines-and-veils sheets, and rules for Discord and the table that are strictly enforced for player comfort. Everyone should feel safe in my spaces, so I have zero tolerance for harassment or disruptive behavior.

How Shaddoe creates a safe table

->Harassment and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated at my table nor in my Discord.<- -> Before Session 0, each player will fill out a consent sheet and a lines-and-veils document. ->I will meet with each player prior to Session 0 to make sure that my table will give them what they are looking for. ->Session 0 will reiterate the agreed-upon rules and make sure that everyone is on board with the lines and veils of the other players. ->For a half-hour before the session, I have time that I call Roll For Initiative, where we can discuss above-the-table anything that the players would like. The goal is to get to know the players as people outside their characters, encouraging trust and familiarity. ->For a half-hour after the session, I have a time I call A Short Rest. This is an above-the-table time for players to discuss what they liked, disliked, and what they are looking forward to next time. Again, this will hopefully encourage trust and familiarity with each other and me as a GM.
