About the adventure

Gotham. A vertically rised urban jungle of brutalist skyscrapers, towers, bridges, water canals and viaducts decorated with neon lights, gothic spires, gargoyles, and art-deco elements where crime and corruption are rooted deep in the hearts of almost every city official. Even perpetual rain can not wash off these dirty and foggy streets that hides constant fear and temptation to sin of its denizens. In the constant chaos of this dark megapolis, a small group of strangers that fate brought together are trying to survive and even to make their ways to the big league. Gotham Noir is an Open World game with Crime Drama, Psychological Thriller, Horror, Action, and Stratgy/Territory Control elements. Did you ever think that you would do okay in Gotham City? Would you join a gang and make your way up? Or do you want to represent law and order? Are you going to plan heists? Or Missions with GCPD SWAT? Be whoever you want. A criminal, a lawman, a vigilante, a villian, a hero. Be allies or enemies with colorful characters of this dark megapolis. It's all up to you. Gotham Noir allows players to be the part of the prominent events that happened in comics, animation, movies and other media since 1939. Tone of the setting is 50's noir with hyper realism without sacrificing what makes this awesome cast of characters who they are.

About me

I love making sound effects, voices and accents. I use ambient sounds, dynamic music and a lots of visual references in my games. Oh and Rule of Cool applies %90 of the time. I don't use pre-created modules or campaigns. At session zero, I give my players a big list of questions (85) about their characters. This helps the players to bond with their characters and understand the characters' motivations. After they give me their answers, I study their background and add plot hooks to my main storyline. All my games are for mature (+21) players.

Character creation

Creating your character

Just imagine a character concept and create them! We will use session zero to optimize characters, explaing game system, answer questions, and talk about safety and safety measures. There are Class Archetypes and backgrounds for characters for easy character creation. What to expect

Preparing for the session

I am planning to run combat encounters in Owlbear Rodeo and communicate via Discord. There is already a channel in Discord for Gotham Noir with visual references, guideline, and explanations. As far as I know, to use it as a player, Owlbear Rodeo doesn't require an account.

What Arman Altinoz brings to the table

I do character voices, use ambient sounds and music. Almost every encounter will be intense and tactical. I will provide character sheets, system guidelines, character creation guidelines, maps (city/regional/battle) and a lot of visual references. Rule of Cool is heavily applied in Gotham Noir. I will also help Players to create and optimize their characters.

Homebrew rules

I created a hyper realistic system specifically for this setting. It's a D20 adjacent system with simple and logical rules. Players are not bound by races or character classes while crating their characters. And combat encounters are played as if they are happening in real time. 1 round (where all players and NPCs make their moves) is 1 second. This aspect of the system makes planning of heists and/or missions very important. Players can pick between 6 Archetypes, or modify their every aspect as they prefer to create their characters. Players also pick 1 of 6 different backgrounds to have contacts in specific places, have information about specific things, and have access to specific items.

How Arman Altinoz creates a safe table

I'm planning to discuss everything on session zero. There will be a document about lines and veils that we will write together with players. There also will be aftercare, regular breaks and open door. Players beware! This is Gotham City. A lot of hardened criminals, maniacs, serial killers, corrupt officials, disturbed and troubled individuals, psychopaths, and The Joker live here. These people will do evil things. Sometimes fuelled by motivation, sometimes just because. This is not a safe setting. Content warnings I've picked are for inevitable content, not for the possible content. For example, this is not a naval campaign. But Gotham is an island. If Players decide to infiltrate an area via sewer system, it is going to be a little ''Clostrophobic'' and can contain ''Deep or Large Bodies of Water'' and ''Drowning''. There is ''Human Trafficing'' in Gotham. But Players aren't necessarily going to have a mission if they choose so. I repeat, this is a dark and gritty setting. Bad things can and will happen.
