About the adventure

Continent in Embers The Third Northern War has finally ended, but that doesn't mean everything turned quiet and decent at the dawn of the new day. Those who can earn bread only at the edge of their blades still roam the high roads. Monsters gorged on flesh, and wickedness proliferated through the outskirts of civilization and into it. Hearts of men poisoned by suffering spew fear and hate. World keeps turning. Vagabonds and Heroes Play as a fresh Witcher, sorceress just after school, a weary war veteran, or another vagrant far more experienced than they would wish to be, not necessarily bound to any profession or class. Maybe even some kind of humanoid "monster"? Destined to face a danger they never could have expected, born of the lesser Sphere Conjunction, heralded by the Wild Hunt. Forced to group together against the arcane, tides of history, as well as far more mundane threats. All wrapped in human stories, framed by major events, taking place in the background, so characteristic of the best of Witcher media. Wider Context The campaign is set after the events of Witcher 3 Wild Hunt picking up the fate of the world, where everything seemed to change and yet so much stayed the same. Concentrated in the north west of the continent, away from the Witcher 4 events.

About me

My own Platinum Rule for RPGs is simple offer and assume respect, as well as good will. We all want to experience something breaking out of the mundane, at least for a bit. Entertain and be entertained by weaving a story together, play the game together. My main enjoyment comes from others being engrossed in the session, or at least having fun with it. Allowing myself a little honesty, RPGs are a huge part of my life, took me from being an extremely shy kid to someone who can easily give lectures to a full auditorium. As silly, as that sounds, feeling like I truly pilot spaceships, confront gods, stalk dark alleys of great cities, protect the multiverse from villainy, and more throughout my life. I want more people to enjoy this hobby, so I never took money for running games before, sometimes putting more time and effort into them than normal work. But as life goes on, duties grow and times get harder. I want to see if maybe I can integrate my adult life and passion better. Sneak a bit more of the hobby into the day. Character creation

Creating your character

Will go over it on session 0, but generally using Adventure Edition of Savage Worlds, as I find it the most fitting mechanic for the world. Characters will be offered a few advancements for the start.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A willing spirit and an open mind should suffice, but it would be nice to have some initial ideas for your Vagabond. Session 0 will be free.

What Driden brings to the table

As a Pole who was into fantasy from a young age, I built up some knowledge of the world of the Witcher, but even more importantly, a feel for its atmosphere and storytelling. Allowing for the creation of a more believable, vibrant world. Hopeful even in all its seeming bleakness. Filled with its compelling inhabitants, a heart that moves the story along. Accompanied by suitable, ambient music for the events. Keeping a detailed database of all the encountered places and characters.

Homebrew rules

I prepared some simple adaptation for the world, but Savage Worlds is fitting enough, I didn't need to make any really major changes.

Safety

How Driden creates a safe table

Continent is a harsh world, ravaged by all kinds of supernatural horrors, but even worse, those men made. It absolutely won't always be cruel and mean, but I'm not going to lie, it's a game aiming for a mature audience. People willing to engage with dark topics in a respectful manner, suitable to the gravitas of what is happening. Comfortable to communicate openly and showing good will to others at the table.
