Creating your character

You can use roll20 or dnd beyond! I have tons of content on roll20, all free to use! Your character has never been to barovia, nor has your character ever been there, sorry! It simply has to be this way cause of lore reasons that I cannot share just yet :) All 2024 rules and books. You'll start level 1 but level to 3 pretty quick. Your character will be approached by a man named Chansey, wearing bright and unique clothes, he is some sort of traveller. After some conversation and information sharing, he assures you that if you come with him, to Barovia, you will find what it is that your character is looking for. Your character has heard of Barovia from song and story, from bards and campfires, as a place of mystery, power and danger. You will meet with the other party members at a campsite, all brought to this location from different places.

Preparing for the session

It will take place on roll20. If using dnd beyond, add the extension on your browser. Discord server will have info, and be where everyone can communicate with me and others. Please have a character created at level 1 before the session if possible! You can communicate with the other players in discord once i assign your role. You will then see your games specific chats.

What Kelvin brings to the table

I will be utilizing customized music and characters, art (not AI, and purchased), quests, monsters and locations. This will be a unique CoS experience. I will be live streaming (for likely just other sessions I run that are interested) but 100% of my focus is on the game, not the stream. The recordings will be posted on youtube for you to use as reference, and so you can always look back at the experience later :) And of course, the books are provided.

Homebrew rules

Surrounded - 3 creatures or more surrounding a hostile creature - +1 to hit. Higher ground - If the attacker is 10 higher than the target they get +1 to hit Drinking a potion is a bonus action. If you drink a healing potion out of combat or using your main/full action you gain the max healing possible. You can use your DM inspiration after you roll (reroll). If you are wielding a shield, you can use your reaction to sacrifice it for 1d4+1 hp damage reduction. When a creature within 5 feet of you is targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to jump in front of it. If you succeed on a DC20 DEX or STR saving throw (reflex), you are the target of this attack. Last Stand: if a character fails all of their death saving throws, and is sure to die, in a last moment of fading strength they can take 1 non healing action. Silver-Plated Weapon: A silver-plated weapon has been overlayed with a thin layer of ordinary silver. Against a creature vulnerable to silvered weapons, the weapon works normally. If used against any creature that is not vulnerable to silver the silver plating is damaged, on a 1, the silver has been significantly damaged. After a total of 2 such 1s, the weapon has lost too much of its silver plating and is no longer effective as a silvered weapon. If a piece of ammunition is silvered, the silver plating is always destroyed if it strikes a target not vulnerable to silver. The above is different from properly silvered weapons, which function normally.
