About the adventure
Welcome to the world of Vlandaren! This is a homebrew setting and campaign that puts the power of its story and progression in the hands of you, the player! With the struggle of good vs. evil, civil war, oppression, and the presence of light and dark forces, this is your opportunity to put an end to evil everywhere, seek honor and glory, or perhaps even indulge in the darkness and claim the world as your own! Note: Session 0 will be FREE! This campaign is very story-driven and welcomes anyone with a creative itch that needs scratching, and I will be prepared to help long-time or first time players have the best experience possible, whether that means tutorials on character creation or tips and tricks to help players get more comfortable.

About me
Oh hi there! My name is Katie and I've been playing tabletop games for over 5 years and recently have been GM-ing for just under a year. I'm the kind of player/GM that's always learning and always open to new ideas and options to improve the experience for myself and for those I play with, and though it's been stressful at times figuring out what the party should do next, my first ever homebrew game has been a lot of fun for everyone involved! I look forward to running more games, either pre-written modules or crazy creations of my own design, and I hope you're as eager to play them as I am!

Creating your character
Character creation will happen in session 0, although feel free to come up with ideas beforehand! We will start at level 1 and determine stats via point buy and/or standard array, and though I'm comfortable with characters created on paper or online via sources like D&D Beyond, I will need a copy of the sheet somehow.
Current Party, all at level 7: - Air Genasi Sorcerer - Human Pugilist
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I will be running this game over Discord call in Foundry VTT, and so accounts for both Discord and Foundry as well as a microphone will be needed. When the game starts, there will be a Discord server for players to join where the VTT link will be posted. Part of session 0 will be going over how this works for anyone who isn't familiar with using Foundry.
What Kathryn brings to the table
I like to set the stage as best I can and provide immersive atmospheres! This includes providing voices for prominent NPCs, using ambient music that fits the scene, and even adding additional actions and environmental behavior in combat to really spice things up. While I do try to follow the Rules to be more familiar with them, I am more of a Rule of Cool DM that encourages creativity with choices and actions in combat (within reason)!
Homebrew rules
Drinking a potion is a bonus action. Critical hits are your max damage plus an additional damage roll (ex: a crit with 1d6+3 damage becomes 9 + 1d6) Other than that, I will be trying to follow the rules as best I can.

How Kathryn creates a safe table
I prefer to use X, N, and O cards for sessions, with these being at user discretion. They can be spoken out loud or messaged, and when X and N cards are played I like to briefly touch on what the triggering content was so as to make a note of it and avoid it in the future. After sessions, I like to touch base with everyone in aftercare by asking for feedback and listening for any requests that players have going forward. In my session notes I include what the party has done, where things will likely go next time, and any do's or don't's that my players bring up during breaks or after session to maintain a comfortable atmosphere.
