About the adventure
Deadly Draconic Dreams is a hard-boiled adventure set loosely in the world of Eberron in Dungeons & Dragons 5e, blending high magic and pulp adventure with noir overtones. Magic has empowered a different kind of industrial revolution, with technologies like lightning-powered airships and magical trains reaping benefits for the people, but also for the monopolistic Dragon Mark houses that control them. As the world still reels from the end of a devastating war that reshaped the continent, shadowy figures seize their moment to reach for power. When an old friend's skyship plummeted from the clouds, it didn't just spell the end of Tommy Tam's life—it was the beginning of a mystery. As the unlikely executors of his will, you’re offered a share of a fortune worth over 100,000 gold pieces… and given a name no one recognizes. Now, with Tommy's grandfather offering a hefty reward and the criminal underworld stirring, you’re thrust into a hunt that leads beyond the City of Towers and into the heart of the war-torn continent. Can you elude your pursuers, track down the missing heiress, and uncover the truth before the powers that seek to bury it have their way?

Creating your character
We'll play on Foundry VTT and use DndBeyond to create characters. We start at level 2 with Standard Array attributes and Fixed HP. Nearly every D&D Class or Species can find a place in Eberron, though there are some specific options available in the Eberron campaign setting that may tie in more appropriately. No Homebrew or Unearthed Arcana/playtest material, but if you have an idea for something from one of the official books that's unusual, let the GM know and we may find a way to incorporate it/balance it for the setting. If you're flexible, we can probably figure it out!
Any class/species/background combination you want to play can be fun! We encourage you to connect with other players in the Discord to coordinate on the composition of the group. However, though party balance is cool and gives the group more options, the GM will balance the encounters appropriately so any group can find success!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We'll be running our sessions using a combination of Discord and the Foundry VTT, with DndBeyond for character creation and reference. You will need a computer with a microphone and headphones, as well as an internet connection and an up-to-date web browser to connect to Discord and the VTT site. All invites and links, including set up instructions and quick start guides will be provided upon booking, and the GM will reach out to you before the session to verify your set up. If you are new to those tools, don't worry! We can walk you through it and get you into the game quickly and easily!
What BrokenUnicorns brings to the table
I try to stay consistent with Rules as Written for a even-handed game, but lean into Rule of Cool when it makes for a more fun experience. I play my NPCs with unique voices and characterization to make them stand out. And while we have tactical maps and handouts to help set the scene, I try not to be limited by the tools and use Theater of the Mind when needed to help my players feel like an active part of the world.
