About the adventure
🐦⬛One For Sorrow, Two For Mirth🐦⬛ Souls-like High Fantasy Homebrew The rookery of Hinturea is molting. Whether messenger or augury, fallen blackbirds continue to spell the dwindling days of the old faith. There is a hope that the capital's magicians will unify the realm under the banner of Arcana as piety and devotion begin to fail. Each magister takes their hard-earned decades of study, under the careful escort of sellswords and bodyguards to try and present their findings to far-off neighbours. If the realm can be swayed to take up arcana as more than an old-man's game, a grim fate might be narrowly avoided. Prayers and blessings make way for wards and abjuration in "One for Sorrow", a macabre high magic fantasy set in an overarching homebrew world. This long-term campaign will focus on travel, setting, and big, boss monster combats. Think Elden Ring meets Lord of the Rings, escorting a harbinger of enlightenment on a mission to save the world in the wake of fading divine magicks. A "reverse crusade" if you will. Bloodborne, fast paced grotesquity meets franconian cityscapes with swathes of exploration in-between. Take up arms and count crows, as blackbirds dot the road to the future!

About me
Hello there! I'm Fitz (they/he), and I have been a GM for about 10 years—4 of those professionally. I run weekly paid games, high concept one-shots, and have built up quite the tight-knit community over at what we like to call "Also Dragons". Most of the campaigns I run take place in an overarching homebrew setting, spanning different genres, corners of the world, and differing types of magic and technology. Together they paint a larger picture, each player adding a brushstroke.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will occur in call, to allow for discussion of potential backstory connections and to allow consistency with the rest of the party. Nothing worse than a player making a character they are passionate about only to find that it's not a good fit for the setting or the party! There are some other details around equipment and house rules that will be elaborated on in Session Zero and may inform some player choices!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Stable, reliable internet connection and audio quality required. Video preferred but totally optional. We will be using D&DBeyond for character sheets, and Discord for voice, video, campaign tracking, and battlemaps.
What Fitz♦️🍏Also Dragons brings to the table
I have access to all official content on D&DBeyond as well as animated battle maps which we will be using via a screensharing VTT method. I prefer this approach as I feel it best emulates an at-the-table feel and reduces the amount of tabs and things for people to keep track of!

Safety
How Fitz♦️🍏Also Dragons creates a safe table
Session Zero allows the players to take the floor, ask questions about the setting, make requests for content they would (or would not) like to see. We will get you oriented with the Also Dragons server, discuss house rules and general community dynamic, and go through content-consent checklists to gauge levels of comfortability with subject matter that may (but will likely not) arise.
