About the adventure

A new mining town that has cropped up up near the mountains puts out a desperate call for help. They need adventurers. They need you. Approach the quest board and see what dangers await you. - Decide how to handle the threats that endanger the land, like the terrifying manticore that soars overhead and threatens the townsfolk. - Stand your ground against ferocious monsters with only your wits and your blade. - Negotiate with suspicious merchants, gaint he trust of gnome inventors, or clash with factions known and unknown. - Delve into ancient ruins long since forgotten, and uncover lost secrets. The town is scared. Will you help them? This campaign is perfect if you want to: - Learn the newest edition of Dungeons & Dragons in an inclusive space where teaching happens naturally as we play - Begin as new, hopeful adventurers and grow into dragon-slayers. - Creep through forgotten mines, brave icy peaks, and test your mettle against monsters that stalk the wilds. - Face choices where combat isn't the only answer. Rely on cleverness, compassion, or negotation when possible to avoid a skirmish—or don't. - Meet eccentric inventors, stubborn dwarves, ambitious agents, and a host of quirky townfolk. - Uncover lost lore, hidden treasures, and the chilling power of a white dragon's shadow. There is no prep or books needed! I walk you through everything you need to know and how to use the player's handbook in and outside of play whenever you need it. - Weekly sessions on Foundry VTT using Sqyre, and Discord for voice - LGBTQIA+ friendly, with safety tools always in play - Ongoing opportunities for custom worldbuilding and character development between sessions.

Character creation

Creating your character

All you need to bring is creativity and imagination. Pick a few characters from your favorite book, tv show, anime, or videogame and we'll make something completely unique for you to play. Have you ever wanted to cast flame magic like Roy Mustang? Or lurk in the shadows like Ezio Auditore da Firenze? Whatever your inspiration, D&D makes dreams happen and I can't wait to hear yours. Character creation will happen in a "Session 0" where we'll also discuss the theme of the campaign we want to play and I'll briefly go over some of the rules. The rest we'll cover naturally as we play!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will use Discord for voice calls and Foundry (hosted by Sqyre) for virtual tabletop play. You will need a microphone and account for Discord, but can be used directly from your browser or downloaded (optional). You'll also need to create an account through Sqyre which is used directly from your browser.

What Ryan - Tafelavontuur brings to the table

Are you new to Dungeons & Dragons, or tabletop roleplaying? You'll learn entirely by playing and having fun. I guide you through the rules as they come up, answer questions on the spot, and make sure you never feel lost. The mechanics fade into the background so that we can focus on your story. I'll walk you step-by-step from character idea to finished character sheet. Our table is set up for clarity; the handbook is easily accessible, dungeons and other scenes are clearly mapped, and combat is easy to keep track of. You'll always see where you are, know what quests are available to you, and understand your options at a glance. Ready to learn by doing?

Safety

How Ryan - Tafelavontuur creates a safe table

This table is built on trust, kindness, and curiosity. I’ve worked with many first-time players and folks from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ players, those exploring the hobby for the first time, and kids. I want everyone at the table to feel seen, respected, and free to enjoy the game however they want to engage. I use Session 0, safety tools, and private onboarding calls to make that happen. Every new player gets a brief one-on-one meeting with me before joining. This is a low-pressure space where we talk about expectations, comfort zones, and accessibility needs. During sessions, I check in regularly and maintain open communication, so anyone can speak up if something doesn’t feel right to make sure this table is the right fit for you and that everyone shares respect for one another. You deserve a space where you can show up fully as yourself!
