About the adventure
The Avatar has vanished. And in their absence, the boundary between the mortal and spirit realms begins to come apart. The four nations struggle to understand these new influences and manifestations of power. Some seek to wield them to carry out their selfish purposes, while others approach them as natural phenomena to be studied. This chaotic shift has brought about a strange new entity into the world: a masked stranger who claims to be the 'Speaker of the Spirits,' heralding an inevitable return to the natural order of chaos and change. Welcome to Avatar: Twilight of Balance! This will be a multi-season campaign beginning in an era of the table's choice and continuing through the Avatar timeline in a multi-era story. Each player's origins and choices will matter immensely to the flow and focus of the story; although this game will cover large-scale events, its main drive will be the personal obstacles and victories of our star protagonists: you! We are using the Avatar Legends RPG, a Powered by the Apocalypse system that utilizes a narrative 2d6 dice mechanic that pushes the story forward, with a focus on each character's balance between two conflicting ideals. No experience is necessary to play! I'm originally from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, but I currently live in Tokyo, Japan. I speak English and Japanese, and a little bit of Mandarin. I'm a writer, animator, artist, conlanger, worldbuilder, and GM (as you can probably tell)! I started running tabletop RPGs shortly after trying them for the first time, and Iāve been hooked ever since. There are few experiences more satisfying than running a game and watching the chemistry between characters come alive. I got my first taste of D&D in 2018, and I've been chasing that high ever since. Iām a massive nerd (arenāt we all here?). Notable loves of mine include Star Wars, The Dark Crystal, The Lord of the Rings, The Legend of Zelda, the works of Studio Ghibli, and space horror like Alien and Dead Space. These interests deeply influence the kinds of role-playing games I run and play. I'm also in the process of designing my own self-published TTRPGs and adventures. Those familiar with the system are free to make their characters prior to the campaign. I will walk any players who are new to the system or unfamiliar through their character creation and help familiarize them with the game's various playbooks! We will be using the base game as well as expanded character options.
