About the adventure

The world of Ashkaris is a land of divine ruin and dying light. Long ago, the demi-gods who shaped the world disappeared and were never seen again. The Eternal Sovereign rose from that chaos, he is last demi-god left forging his Dominion upon the echoes of their disappearance and has named himself The Eternal Sovereign or God Incarnate over his dominion. All that do not obey and serve shall by assimilated into his Soul Pyres and consumed to feed his strength. Now, the forests whisper with trapped souls, mountains bleed black flame, and oceans churn with the bones of forgotten gods. Civilization clings to survival amid the wreckage of faith and empire. 🕸️ The Beginning You start as prisoners of Sith’Radoon, the Sovereign’s obsidian fortress. Once a citadel of creation, it now stands as a monument to domination — part mine, part forge, part tomb. His dominion has created a wasteland in Ashkaris and this continent is dying, the sky is fogged in Ash, and it does not rain. The only magic in this world is the magic that The Eternal Sovereign bestows upon his followers. Will you falter Heroes against this overwhelming darkness, Or will you triumph of Champions of Ashkaris?

About me

I have been crafting worlds, for YOUR stories for around 5 years now. I play weekly in real life with my original campaign party. I am the forever GM. I love creating worlds and having my players affect the world with their backstory, or the lore they helped craft. ROC is RAW and it is something I live by, that and also let the dice tell the story. I like Dark fantasy, and immersive sandbox settings that let you really stake a claim to the world. I am highly inclusive at my table, and any form of disrespect, or bullying is not allowed!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be using 2014 Players Handbook. I have access to many books, and I am also okay with you using whatever books you have. I am okay with whatever race you want to play as long as it makes sense with your faction every character will start out as a level one character. The factions are listed below; you will be starting out as a former member of one of these factions, and now a prisoner of Sith'Radoon as slave of The Eternal Sovereign. 🌲 Thalyth — The Forestborn Hidden deep within the emerald wilds, the Thalyth are druidic circles, elves, firbolgs, and awakened beasts bound to the old demi-gods who once seeded life in the north. They see the forest as sacred — a living cathedral humming with lost divine essence. Through ritual and blood, they preserve what green remains, waging a silent war against the fires of industry and the reach of the Sovereign’s Dominion. Tone: Mystical, secretive, and alien in thought — half spirit, half mortal. Few outsiders truly understand them, and fewer are welcomed into their groves. 🔥 Drazhaan — The Ashen Tribes Scattered across the scorched plains, the Drazhaan are nomadic clans of orcs, humans, centaurs, and tieflings forged by endless war. Once united under the banners of demi-gods, they now feud constantly — some tribes serving the Eternal Sovereign as mercenaries, others waging brutal rebellions against him. Each tribe is bound by fire, steel, and survival, their culture steeped in duels, oaths, and pyres that burn to honor their dead. Tone: Fierce, divided, and dangerous — their loyalty is as shifting as the smoke that covers their lands. ⛰️ Doruun-Kai — The Stormforged Holds Carved into the heart of the Durrun-Kai mountains, these fortress-cities of dwarves, goliaths, and dragonborn are living monuments to endurance. The Doruun-Kai claim descent from the demi-gods of storm and stone, and they stand defiant against the Dominion’s advance. Their forges ring with the thunder of divine relics reborn into weapons. Though proud and isolationist, they are unmatched in discipline and craftsmanship. When the Doruun-Kai march, mountains move. Tone: Proud, stoic, and unyielding — their word is iron, and their grudges eternal. 🌊 Xerathis — The Drowned Faiths In the flooded ruins and coastal swamps dwell the Xerathis — yuan-ti, tritons, lizardfolk, and sahuagin who whisper the names of the fallen demi-gods. They are not mere zealots, but custodians of forgotten myths, keepers of temples now claimed by the tides. Their songs speak of the Sunken Crown, a relic said to hold a demi-god’s dying spark. Some seek redemption through worship; others hunger for dominion beneath the waves. Tone: Esoteric and cult-like, the Xerathis are both prophets and heretics — the tide they follow may cleanse or consume. 🕳️ Ezkarth — The Echo-Touched No nation, no memory — only arrival. The Ezkarth were transported here through collapsing planar rifts, waking amidst the scars of Ashkaris with fragments of worlds long lost. G

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Everything will be run on DND Beyond, we will be using their virtual Maps, and character creation. Players should have access to discord and the ability to voice chat.

What GM Kam brings to the table

At my table, players are co-authors of a living, breathing world. I offer a campaign that feels cinematic, emotional, and unpredictable — where every roll, every decision, and every bond leaves a scar on the story. 🎭 Immersive Storytelling: I bring deep lore, voice-acted NPCs, and evolving storylines that react to your actions. ⚔️ High Stakes, Real Consequences: Death, corruption, and redemption are all possible — every choice has weight. 🩸 Player Freedom: I build the world around your characters. Your backstories and decisions shape how Ashkaris remembers you. 🌑 Cinematic Combat: Expect intense, descriptive encounters where creativity wins more than raw stats. 🌲 Atmosphere & Emotion: The tone is dark fantasy — tragic, hopeful, and heavy with myth. Every session should feel like a chapter in an epic saga. 🔮 Rule of Cool: If it’s badass, believable, and makes the table cheer, it happens.

Homebrew rules

🌟 1. Inspiration for All Every player begins each session with one Inspiration Point. Use it to reroll a d20, gain advantage, or flavor your moment with heroic flair. Unspent Inspiration does not stack between sessions — fortune favors those who use it. 🍷 2. Potions as a Bonus Action Drinking a healing potion (or similar) is a bonus action. Feeding one to another character is still an action. Sometimes, survival is about how fast you can chug. 🔥 3. Cantrips as a Bonus Action You may cast a cantrip as a bonus action — but only if your main action is a weapon attack, dash, disengage, or use item. This keeps combat flowing and spellcasters feeling dynamic. 💀 4. Blaze of Glory When you fail your final death save, you don’t fade quietly. Instead, you get one last full turn before you die — a final strike, a spell, or a desperate act that might change everything. Afterward, your soul departs… unless something darker intervenes. ⚔️ 5. The Rule of Cool If something is epic, cinematic, or jaw-dropping — it flies. Creativity beats optimization. If you sell the moment, the world will bend a little to make it happen.

Safety

How GM Kam creates a safe table

Even in a world of fallen gods and haunted ruins, everyone at the table deserves to feel comfortable, respected, and in control of their experience. Here’s how I keep that balance: 🕯️ Session Zero Before the campaign begins, we hold a Session Zero — a full conversation to build trust, set expectations, and define boundaries. During this session, we: Discuss themes and tone — what players are excited for and what to avoid. Review homebrew rules, safety tools, and character connections. Clarify consent, both in roleplay and narrative content. Ensure everyone understands the world’s mature themes (death, loss, corruption) and agrees on how far to explore them. Session Zero makes sure we’re all on the same page — narratively, emotionally, and personally. ⚖️ The X-Card At any point in play — in-person, in chat, or online — any player can use the X-Card by: Saying “X,” Typing ❌ in chat, or Messaging me privately. When the X-Card is used: The current scene stops immediately — no questions asked. We rewind, fade-to-black, or shift focus. No one is pressured to explain why. It’s a simple way to ensure that even in a world of horror and tragedy, real-world comfort always comes first. 💬 My Promise Ashkaris may test your characters, but never you as a player. This is a table built on respect, trust, and shared storytelling — not shock or discomfort. We go dark only when it’s safe to do so, and we always step back into the light together.
