About the adventure

Across the realms, resurrection magic is failing. The dead stay dead, and those once revived begin to wither away. Whispers speak of a Soulmonger—a device feeding on every lost soul—and all clues lead to the untamed jungles of Chult. Welcome to a land where the wilderness itself is an enemy. Venomous beasts, ancient ruins, and the restless dead lurk beneath the dense canopy. From the lively streets of Port Nyanzaru to the forgotten depths of the Tomb of the Nine Gods, your party will uncover the truth behind the Death Curse—or die trying. This campaign blends exploration, survival, and mystery in a setting bursting with danger and wonder. Every day in Chult is a fight for survival; every discovery could be your last. Expect cinematic narration, high-stakes combat, and immersive roleplay where choices matter and death has real consequences. As your Dungeon Master, I’ll guide you through a living, breathing world filled with atmospheric soundscapes, dynamic NPCs, and a tone that shifts seamlessly between awe and terror. I embrace the Rule of Cool, encourage creative problem-solving, and focus on story-driven exploration. If you love ancient curses, lost civilizations, and epic adventures in exotic lands, this is your call to action. Pack your blades, steel your nerves, and step into the jungle—because in Chult, even the gods fear what waits in the dark.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place during Session 0, where we’ll build your characters together and connect them to the story’s opening mysteries. Tomb of Annihilation includes unique adventure hooks tied to certain backgrounds, offering players special motivations and connections to the Death Curse. If you’re interested, we’ll go over these options during Session 0 to help you choose one that fits your character’s story. Players will use standard array or point buy for stats, take maximum HP at every level, and may use any official Wizards of the Coast content (no homebrew, please). Whether you’re a scholar of lost gods, a mercenary chasing fortune, or a cleric desperate to end the curse, your choices will shape how you enter Chult—and how long you survive it.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the expedition begins, here’s what to do: Join the Discord Server – This is where we’ll coordinate sessions, share lore, and chat between games. Create or Log Into D&D Beyond – You’ll receive a campaign link for character creation and shared resources. Familiarize Yourself with Owlbear Rodeo – Our virtual tabletop for maps and combat, no download required—it runs in your browser. Check Your Audio Setup – A working microphone is required for clear communication. Cameras are optional but always welcome. Pack Your Curiosity – No lore knowledge is needed; just bring your sense of adventure and a readiness to explore the unknown.

What Skyybunny brings to the table

As your Dungeon Master, I bring the jungles of Chult to life with vivid narration, ambient soundscapes, and engaging NPCs that make the world feel alive. I balance strategic combat with cinematic flair and reward creativity with the Rule of Cool. Expect meaningful survival mechanics, tense exploration, and choices that carry weight. You’ll feel the oppressive humidity, hear the distant drums, and sense the dread growing with each mile. My style mixes drama, humor, and danger—creating an unforgettable adventure where every roll matters.

Homebrew rules

I keep the game fast, fun, and cinematic while maintaining a strong sense of danger. Potions: Drinking a potion is a bonus action, or a full action for maximum healing. Critical Hits: A natural 20 deals max damage + rolled damage. Death Saves: Rolled privately, keeping tension high. Additional homebrew rules for pacing, exploration, and immersion are posted in the Discord server for easy reference.

Safety

How Skyybunny creates a safe table

Player safety is a top priority, and we’ll establish clear boundaries before the game begins. During Session 0, we will review a comprehensive Lines and Veils document, which I will send out ahead of time for players to fill out and reference during gameplay. This document will cover sensitive topics, including what’s off-limits (Lines) and what can be included in a more controlled way (Veils), as well as what’s fully acceptable (On). We’ll also discuss any additional content concerns and make sure that everyone feels comfortable with the game’s themes. After Session 0, we’ll review these boundaries at the start of the campaign and ensure everyone is on the same page. Throughout the game, we’ll use a combination of physical (X, N, O) indicators and digital signals, like the “X card” (or an equivalent), to quickly halt content that makes players uncomfortable, and we’ll do a check-in after each session to ensure everyone’s okay. This could be a simple message or a more in-depth conversation depending on player needs. Aftercare is key. If anything intense or difficult happens during the game, I’ll provide a safe space for players to debrief, either in-person after the session or digitally in a private message. I’m always available for private conversations to ensure everyone’s emotional and mental well-being is taken into account, and I’ll offer additional support if needed. The goal is to keep the game fun, engaging, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved.
