About the adventure

This adventure is designed for new players, as a great introduction to Dungeons & Dragons. I love this adventure and think it's the best hook to get people into the game. I will be putting my own personal touch on the adventure, but the core of it will be as written in the original book. The first session will be free, as we will be doing a Session 0, this is where I will help you build your characters and also explain the rules of D&D, maybe even provide some playable examples for you. All in all it will also be a good time to get to know me and your fellow players, it's very casual. So you know what you are jumping into, here is a prewritten intro to the game: "Your characters are in the city of Neverwinter when their dwarf patron and friend, Gundren Rockseeker, hires them to escort a wagon to Phandalin. Gundren has gone ahead with a warrior, Sildar Hallwinter, to attend to business in the town while the characters follow with the supplies. The characters will be paid 10 gp each by the owner of Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin when they deliver the wagon safely to that trading post."

About me

I have been into TTRPG's for about 8 year at this point, I fell in love with them hard when discovering DnD, and haven't looked back since. I first started out as a player but later found my true passion for the game with DMing, since then its been a constant ride of fun, passion and adventure. DMing has allowed me to open up more in life and embrace the nerdy soul that I possess. I ran a memorable campaign all throughout the pandemic for my friends online, and now I have a regular campaign that I run at home thats been going on for almost 3 years now, all based in a homebrew world I've created. If you are looking for a DM who will always do whatever they can to allow you to create stories that you will hopefully remember for many years to come, then I'm your guy. I used to be a big fantasy book nerd, but now I've turned to DnD to give me some of that dopamine hit for that genre. I am also a writer in my free time and have been developing my own TTRPG systems, such as my own Fallout system, as well as a folkhorror themed game. I'm also in the process of writing a novel based of my first campaign that I ever played as a player.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters are to be made according to the DnD Player's Handbook (2014), and they can either made through DnD Beyond, or just by filling out a blank PDF. We will have a session 0 which shall be free of charge, where I will help you create your characters. If you wish, there is also some premade characters you can choose from from the official Lost Mine of Phandelver book.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need to have a D&DBeyond account (if you are using it for your character sheet), as well as access to Roll20 and Discord, as they will be the main platforms we shall use. I will direct message you the links to all of these when ready.

What Ryan brings to the table

I will provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all, as this module is designed for new players to the game, and as someone who loves this game so deeply, I aim to hook you from the start. Think of this game like a novel that you are stepping into, to help with this feeling I will provide ambient soundscapes and themed background music through Discord, as well as doing all I can to bring the NPC's and world alive. You are in safe hands with me, as I have helped guide many a new players into the world of Dungeons & Dragons, all you have to do is make the first step...

Homebrew rules

I like to keep the game streamlined and fun, it is for that reason I have a few homebrew rules I will be implementing: - Drinking a potion as a bonus action - Critical Hits are the damage dices max potential, then you actually roll the damage, then you add the modifiers. (Eg. if your damage is 6d6, then straight away you do the total, which would be 36, then you roll the 6d6 and add it to that, then at the end plus any modifiers).

Safety

How Ryan creates a safe table

In the Session 0 we will not only build our characters and get to know one another, but will will also go through our Lines & Veils, this will be where we talk about certain things or topics that we may not or defiantly don't want to be highlighted in our sessions. This will often be stuff like triggers or just hard to process topics.
