About the adventure
During an era of peace, a divide has begun within the church of one of the oldest gods. While the old way teaches of the warmth of her light, and that her followers be kind and loving, the new voices preach that her light should herald the destruction of darkness, and call for a divine crusade. This conflict of values and perception of divine will has the potential to split nations, harm the influence and reputation of the gods throughout the lands, and possibly even wither the divine threads that connect the gods to the world they created. Will those that approach this conflict be holy folk, heroes, vagabonds, or simply citizens caught up in something much bigger than themselves? Rukon is a fully homebrewed world, and Shadow of the Golden Hand will have themes of exploration, mystery, and political conflict.

About me
I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons for over 20 years and have been DMing regularly for 13. I've had experience running pre made modules and playing in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, but have spent the majority of my time building a homebrew world. I've had experience as both a DM and a player on live streamed games with Tales From Rukon. I'm very open to different styles of play, and have made my world open to a huge variety of settings and themes, and I have fun tailoring the game to whoever my players are!

Creating your character
Players should create their characters in DnDBeyond in the supplied campaign link. The party is currently level 2. Players are welcome to come with existing character ideas, or message me directly to set up a free session to work out ideas together prior to the game.
Currently have a human fighter and wood elf druid, looking for other party members!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Ideally, players should have DnDBeyond, Roll20, and Discord accounts. The free first session (Session 0) will have little to no actual gameplay, and will serve to help players create characters, learn about the setting, go over safety measures, and make any other necessary preparations for the start of the campaign. Using either physical dice or the digital dice in DnDBeyond is totally fine!
What Dane Farley brings to the table
Above all, I want the games to be fun. I use the rules as a guideline, and use their limits to inspire creativity, but I'm absolutely a Rule of Cool DM who enjoys anything that helps develop better roleplay and sets up great character moments. Regardless of whether the group prefers a more tactical combat experience or a more grounded drama, setting up group cohesion and great inter-party dynamics is a priority. I try to aid this by helping with a number of layers of immersion, including original background music, interactive maps, character voices, and rich settings and lore to connect to. I'll also be hosting a DnDBeyond campaign that will give players shared access to all the material from my paid account.
Homebrew rules
-losing more than half a character's max health in one turn prompts a DC10 CON save that will result in being stunned on a fail -critical hits are rolled as normal damage with added modifiers, then that total is doubled, rather than just rolling a second damage dice -drinking a health potion is a bonus action, optionally characters can take a full action to automatically get the maximum dice roll -Natural 20 on initiative gives advantage on the first attack

How Dane Farley creates a safe table
Session 0 will act as both a campaign intro/character development session, and as a session to set player expectations regarding both gameplay and safety. Lines and veils will be discussed and documented during the session, and the expectation of X/N/O cards will be set, which I would have players use either visually on camera or through message (group chat or private message, whichever is more comfortable for the player). I like to have after-session chats, both as general hangouts and as a way to communicate anything players need to address or suggestions they may have.
