About the adventure
Reclamation is a game set in the homebrew world of Palehearth. This is a game for all D&D players from beginners to veterans to dive into collaborative storytelling. * A Session Zero questionnaire will be completed ahead of your first game to ensure safety and comfort for everyone at the table. * You will start as a 1st level D&D 5e (2014) character as they begin their campaign on the frontlines of a roving exploration! Our story takes place in the southern region of Ricaria, known as The Blightmarches. This once green and beautiful land has been ravaged by a demonic incursion, and the people of Ricaria have decided to take it back. You are part of that war effort having joined a mercenary company in one of the foot-hold cities to help cleanse the land of evil. Do you have the courage and determination to do your part in reclaiming the Elven home lands? Or are you running from something scarier than the demon infested wasteland ahead? Either way, pick up your pack, tie your boots and look ready, rookie! Demon hosts, vampire covens, hobgoblin hoards and wraith barrows are out there to be tamed!... The Blightmarches await!

Creating your character
Players will need to have created a Level 1 D&D 5e (2014) character, and have built it in the Roll20 game session prior to their first game. I am happy to meet with players prior to a game and support this. Ability Scores: Please use 'Standard Array' where you get 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8 to allocate to each Ability as you choose. Hit Points: At Level 1, you get the maximum hitpoints depending on your 'Hit Die' and Constitution Modifier. Rules and Options: Any rule from any of the official D&D5e published rule and content books are fine to use. No Unearthed Arcana content please. Equipment: You will start with just what your background and character creation gave you. More will come in game! All questions encouraged and welcome!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Once you have purchased a ticket, please reach out, so I can introduce myself, and we can talk through any questions you have about the below. 1 - We will use Discord for video and voice calls during the game. Please ensure you have an active Discord account. (Video/web-cam is not mandatory, but strongly advised) We will use my server, so will need to ensure your access is working prior to the day of the game. 2 - We will use Roll20 for the mechanical workings of the game. Please ensure you have an active Roll20 account. We will need to ensure your character is present and built in the game prior to the day of the game. 3 - Safety Tool: Session Zero Questionnaire This is a series of questions and notes regarding the content, tone and setting of the game. This will be provided and must be completed prior to your first game. 4 - Safety Tool: VFH form This is used by everyone at the table to ensure that everyone's expectations are understood and catered to. This will be provided and must be completed prior to your first game.
What Palehearth_DM brings to the table
This is an open-table game. Players can drop in and out, playing whatever sessions they can make, and missing others with no issues or effect on their characters. All players will gain access to the Discord server where games are run. This is an open-ended exploration and combat focussed campaign. Characters are part of a warfront working with multiple factions to retake a broken and twisted wasteland from an unforgiving enemy. There are 3 primary pillars of any game I run: Player Agency What you say and do matters! Your characters have the power to influence the world, and this is represented in the roleplay, achievements and consequences of those actions. Player Enjoyment Rules are a framework for a group to get together and tell a story. I will arbitrate situations where the outcome is uncertain and we will roll dice as we play the game together, holding tight to our collective understanding of the 5e mechanics. But I do, (and will), work outside of that framework and apply the 'rule of cool' in service of the narrative and player fun! Player Unity The table is a safe place where gamers can roll dice, 'min-maxers' can crunch numbers and thespians can perform! We don't judge each other for 'broken builds' or 'funny character accents', we embrace and lift our fellow players up. The VFH form and session zero questionnaire set the tone, so everyone know what to expect and hopefully everyone leaves having had a good time.

How Palehearth_DM creates a safe table
A Session Zero Questionnaire will be provided, to be completed prior to the game. A Veils document will be provided, to be completed prior to the game. This full list will be then circulated to all players to ensure everyone is aligned. The nature of the 'Open table' campaign means that players can dip in and out, and a true session zero is impossible. To counter this, I make myself available to my players for any concerns, comments, questions or issues either publicly or privately on my Discord server. This can be used prior to sessions in preparation, or afterward in support.
