About the adventure

You are a mythical hero, an individual worthy of legend. Already, tales of your might, wit, and prowess are common among the lands you travel. But something is stirring, deep in the dark and forgotten places of the world... Dragons - once pushed far from the fringes of civilization by gods in ages past - have returned from the untamed wilderness with fury and claw, set upon conquering or erasing mortalkind from the world. What has spurred the resurgence of these monsters? How can the Dragontide be stopped? The world calls you, mighty hero, to rise to this challenge, and to find the cause behind the greatest threat of this age. Should you succeed, tales of your victory will echo through history and beyond! Should you fail... the world shall perish with you, and an age of destruction and desolation will ensue. Campaign Summary: This is a high-level campaign, suited for experienced players who are familiar with the ins and outs of the D&D 5e system. Incredibly dangerous challenges lay in store for you, and character death is likely unless you prepare thoroughly beforehand. If you've ever wanted to create an optimized, high-level character to face against suitably dangerous creatures, this is the campaign for you.

About me

Hello, one and all! My name is Connor, and I've been a GM since 2018, but with experience in TTRPGs going all the way back to 2007. RPGs have been a tradition in my family since the early 80s, stretching across 3 whole generations. I've picked up the torch as a third generation GM, ready to bring more than 40 years of shared experience and knowledge to the table. I'm a lover of a good mystery, and I enjoy incorporating aspects of investigative gameplay even in stories not primarily about solving a mystery. If a story makes you stop and think "now what could that possibly mean?" then there's a strong chance that I'll be all over it. If you're looking for games that will challenge your characters, while presenting twists and turns for them to work through as intriguing stories unfold due to their actions, then I'd love to run a game for you!

Creating your character

Characters can be pre-planned before the session 0, however we will roll our ability scores together during the session 0. We will be rolling for ability scores using a 3d6 + 6, drop the lowest method. This will likely generate very high ability scores, you will need them. Feats are allowed, as well as all official published material. Additionally, you may begin with one magic item from each category (unless otherwise noted): Weapons: any one +2 weapon Mace of Disruption Mace of Terror Staff of Healing Weapon of Wounding (any weapon) Armor: +1 Armor (any armor) Adamantine Armor Arrow-catching Shield Shield +1 Wonderous Item (Choose two): Bag of Holding Belt of Dwarvenkind Boots of Speed Ring of Evasion Ring of Free Action Rod of the Pact Keeper/Wand of the War mage +2 Potions (Choose 3, can choose each more than once): Potion of Fire Giant Strength Potion of Superior Healing Potion of Heroism Potion of Invulnerability Money: 3000GP to purchase spell components and other supplies

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A microphone or headset will be required for the voice chat. A webcam is recommended for video chat, but is not required.

What The 3rd Gen GM brings to the table

We will be using Roll20 as the virtual tabletop, as well as for character sheets and dice rolling. We will use Discord for voice/video calls. This campaign is a high power-level game, as well as a tier 3 & 4 game. Allowing players to enjoy all of the shiny, high-level abilities that often exist only in our dreams, never to see the light of the game table. Bring your high level builds, heavy multi-class dips, or just take one class as high as it goes to see how powerful their ultimate class feature is.

Homebrew rules

We will stick as close to the rules as written as possible for this game. Spell component rules are enforced, as are lighting and visibility rules. Carry weight rules are also enforced using the simplified Encumbrance rules in the Player's Handbook, as well as are applied to Bags of Holding. On the topic of Coffee-locks: Allowed, but I use the assumption that the spell slots on the class tables are the maximum number of spell slots you can have at a time. Refreshable spell slots? absolutely. Unlimited at one time? No.

Safety

How The 3rd Gen GM creates a safe table

Safety in gaming is important, so while this campaign is unlikely to contain many of the most concerning topics that can come up in games, we will still review the content of the game in a session 0. Additionally, we'll be going over stars & wishes to help ensure that everyone is getting the most out of their time at the digital table. X, N, & O cards will be used via the in-game chat. Players need only send the corresponding letter in the chat and we will pause, break, or adjust accordingly.
