About the adventure

A story set entirely in a capital city, "Shadows of Grandaal" is a campaign that asks the question, "What kind of villain would you be?" The nation of Valrahn has been led under a monarchal rule for the eight centuries since it's birth. It's capital city Grandaal once stood as a pillar to the newfound unity that led it's people through harsh times. But over it's recent decades, corruption from within has shaped it into something darker, a playground for schemes and politics. And when the last of the Valrahn line was tragically assassinated, every high-profile name within the walls began to claw at every scrap of power left... You and the other players assume the role of high-ranking members of the Veiled Syndicate, Grandaal's largest and dominant crime ring. Build not just your character's stats, but the story of their life within the walls of Grandaal, and how their endeavors led them to this position of esteem. Experience a homebrewed mechanic, where deals with a shadowed being presents you with remarkable dark powers. But at what cost...? This campaign will be run in Talespire VTT. Experience high quality 3D maps, unique NPC voices, and an environment that encourages creativity!

About me

Forever passionate participant and observer of the arts. I love to create and see creative people out in the world! Technically played since I was a child, but really got into DMing in early 2019, picking up the role and falling in love with the hobby ever since. My games focus on the storybuilding aspect, encouraging player creativity & freedom. If you let me know what you want out of your character, I will give you the means to pursue it! We all love a good story, and those are best told together

Character creation

Creating your character

Character sheets will be hosted via Demiplane. You will be starting at Level 5, and you will have an opportunity to make a homebrew community that fits your character's specific specialization with the Syndicate. More details will be posted in the private Discord thread!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a Demiplane account for character sheets. (https://app.demiplane.com/nexus/daggerheart) If you would like to use a homebrew class there is a great alternative sheet host site (mobile support) here: https://charkeeper.org/ If you would like to personally use Talespire VTT, download the Guest Version here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2881860/TaleSpire__Guest_Edition?snr=1_7_15__13

What Lens brings to the table

In a "Shadows of Grandaal" campaign, you will be provided with a regional map of the massive capital city to explore and immerse yourself in. From maps, NPC voices, music, ambience, and a narration to fit the depth of your character, prepare for an immersive experience!

Homebrew rules

There will be a multitude of homebrewed items found throughout the game. You will also have multiple opportunities to "commission" some, so brainstorm any kind of magic items you would like your character to have! There will be a mechanic that gives you free access to certain Midnight domain cards through a "deal". If your character already uses Midnight domain, these cards will not count against your vault, and have an improved variety to compensate.

How Lens creates a safe table

- The game will feature breaks during playtime - The Monte Cook RPG Checklist will be filled out by all players and sent to the GM prior to session 0. These will be read and abided by. - At any point in game, a player may type "X' anywhere in the chat to have a theme dropped during gameplay. This will be respected without bringing attention to the notion, out of respect to the player's wishes.
