Character creation

Creating your character

In session zero, we will finalize characters, establish rules, and set the tone for the setting of the game. We'll spend some time chatting and learning each other's play style, and I'll assist in guiding or coaching wherever I'm needed. 😌

The current party

We currently have a barbarian and two clerics from the forgotten realms. when joining, your character will have the option to be a native Barovian which will be given special options and information that the party doesn't currently possess. this will assist in your character's integration and your understanding of the campaign setting. :)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

FOR IN-PERSON GAMES: All prep will be done or explained during session zero, which you only need to bring paper, pencil, a character sheet, or an electronic device with the D&DBeyond app to create a character! FOR VIRTUAL GAMES: Character creation, combat encounters, VTT and maps will all be run through the integrated systems on D&DBeyond. video-cam is expected, and we'll be using Discord. For ambient sounds and audio We'll use the official Curse of Strahd audio set from Syrinscape, and is optional. As a player, just ensure that you have a D&DBeyond account, Discord account, and a Syrinscape account, and I'll guide us the rest of the way.

What Joseph (OTheophylus) brings to the table

FOR IN PERSON GAMES: In person, you can expect a professional DM who as a strong understanding of the rules so that you can be coached effectively. I’ll be immersive in story telling, and you can expect a range of character voices, scene narrating, high quality handouts, artifacts, battle maps, and miniatures. I’ll also be using official tabletop audio. FOR VIRTUAL GAMES: I'll use character voices that I believe to be lore and region accurate to provide depth and immersion. I'll also be running audio sets from Syrinscape for ambiance. We will utilize the D&DBeyond VTT for utilizing original and custom maps, and run combat encounters with character & monster tokens. I'll also establish some discord channels for virtual "Handouts" and image references for items, artifacts, NPCs, and in-game scenes.

I don't have dedicated house rules. I'm happy to offer options and collaborate on house rules we can integrate into our game on session 0.
