About the adventure

This game of Shadow of the Demonlord will take you and 3 other players through the violent liberation of the port town of Bak'dun once a haven for free trade and a home port to many supporting vessels heading towards the dreaded island of Thaumopolis where a lich remains confined in a everwar. The setting is a home brew world created to facilitate wacky ideas and many campaigns I've done with PF2e and now other systems including Draw steel and now Shadow of the Demonlord! You will be bringing a rebellion of hope to the people of Bak'dun and working against vampires to free your once beloved city from the heavy tax of coin and blood the oppressive vampires reign. Dealing with any vampire is near impossible, but with the help of the Pirate King you shall bring peace through gunpowder and fire!

About me

Pathfinder, Edge of the Empire, Fallout RPG, Shadow of the Demon Lord, and hopefully soon Draw Steel & Warhammer Fantasy Old World! All systems I dearly enjoy to run! From playing a one on one making jokes on the couch with a friend to playing with a group of my friends and making jokes over Fantasy Grounds. I've always love finding the joke in the moment through crazy circumstances and even crazier rolls. The crazy risks and the hilarious fails or successes. Not to mention a deep appreciation for some good brutal crunchy combat! Over 10 years of DMing experience starting back in highschool just one on one with my best friend to different groups and year long campaigns! Now I've turned to shorter sessions more episodic play and love a good narrative system. I enjoy sitting down and learning the mechanics of a new system with friends.

Character creation

Creating your character

I'd say most importantly is come to me with an open concept of a character. A simple background of how they come to love the town of Bak'dun for what it once stood for as an open trading market for all to enjoy. We're going to start at level one and the world is high fantasy so feel free to take any official races. The game is incredibly fluid in how leveling up is too so I wouldn't worry about overlapping classes. If you do find a desire to fill in a typical empty role I can let you know what others are currently thinking about playing. Though, in the end, play the character you'd enjoy playing!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Fantasy Ground Unity needs to be installed with a free account. Discord will be used for VOIP if we do not find FGU voip satisfactory.

What Edgar brings to the table

Tactical combat with maps made by me! I'd like to use ambient music through a program I pay for should it work properly. I prefer sticking to the rules but am always happy to hear the crazy ideas you might want to try out and see how we can best balance the rolls and outcomes! Hopefully, some jokes! I think D&D is best when we're all able to laugh about whats happening.

Homebrew rules

I enjoy rolling for all the magic items together. However, sometimes they are straight up too mundane or duplicate effects. It happens when you're rolling off tables. I'm happy to allow one re-roll per magic item rolled, but you have to take the second option even if its worse.

Safety

How Edgar creates a safe table

I ask that if there are certain topics or themes or anything in general that you feel you'd like to bring up let me know when you're also submitting your character. I'll make sure to avoid them changing story beats if necessary to progress the story! I'll gather a list of items not wanted in the story and bring everyone up to speed about things on said list we want to avoid to keep a comfortable environment for everyone. If it suddenly comes that you are overwhelmed or surprised unpleasantly by anything. Type or say "Fade to black!" And we shall pause. Take a minute to discuss whats the issue. Then resume the session at a later point in the moment.
