About the adventure

Space is cold. Space is dark. And in space, no one can hear you scream. Chariot of the Gods is a cinematic scenario for the Alien RPG, the official tabletop role-playing game based on Ridley Scott’s legendary science-fiction horror franchise. You and your fellow players will take on the roles of the crew of the commercial freighter USCSS Montero. What begins as a simple cargo run soon spirals into a nightmare of paranoia, survival, and hard choices when your ship intercepts a mysterious distress signal. This is not a heroic fantasy adventure where treasure and glory await. This is survival horror in deep space. The game is built around tension, atmosphere, and desperate decisions. The rules of the Year Zero Engine are quick to learn and designed to enhance storytelling: you roll dice pools of six-sided dice, build up stress as danger mounts, and risk panic at the worst possible moment. The system is narrative-focused, making it accessible even if you’ve only ever played Dungeons & Dragons before. Expect fear, gore, corporate intrigue, and human conflict. Not all characters will survive, and their personal agendas may drive them into conflict with one another. That’s part of the experience: Alien RPG is written to feel like the films — tense, cinematic, and unforgiving. If you’ve ever wanted to step inside a science-fiction horror movie, this is your chance. This game is ideal if you: - Are 18+ and enjoy horror, suspense, and cinematic roleplay. - Want to try a different system that is rules-light but atmosphere-heavy. - Are open to player-vs-player drama, paranoia, and betrayal. - Want a short, complete story rather than a long campaign — something intense, immersive, and unforgettable. Are you ready to wake from cryo-sleep aboard the Montero? The Company has orders for you, and there’s a distress signal out there. What you find may change everything — if you live long enough to tell anyone about it.

About me

Greetings Adventurers! I am thrilled to introduce myself to this vibrant role-playing community! I am a seasoned and enthusiastic Game Master with a history of role-playing that spans back to the fantastic medieval tales spun from the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books. I first began running my own RPG sessions in the 80s with The Dark Eye, and my passion for the tabletop has not waned, even in the face of the industry's most challenging times. I have built numerous campaigns and sessions across a wide range of RPGs - from classics such as Rolemaster, D&D (3.0, 3.5, and the latest 5e), Warhammer (1st, 2nd, and 4th editions), Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, and Star Wars (d6, d20, and FFG), to modern favorites like Alien RPG, Legend of the Five Rings, and Vampire: The Masquerade (Dark Ages, The Masquerade, and 5th edition). Recently, I've been extensively running D&D 5e, Legend Of The Five Rings, Vampire: The Masquerade 5e, Alien RPG, Star Wars FFG, Warhammer Fantasy RPG, Call of Cthulhu, Cthulhu Hack In May 2021, I was honored to run sessions for Edge during the worldwide premiere of Midnight at the Alchimie du Jeu de Toulouse. Being French, my native language is French, but rest assured - my English proficiency is top-notch. I achieved a CEFR level C1 or above in the Linguaskill Business assessment from the Cambridge University Press & Assessment English in January 2020. So, are you ready to embark on an unforgettable journey, living out incredible adventures in myriad worlds? Come, join the narrative, and let's create epic tales together!

Character creation

Creating your character

In this game, players have two options: either create their own character using the rules of the Alien RPG Core Rulebook, or play one of the six pre-generated characters designed specifically for Chariot of the Gods. While custom character creation is technically possible, I strongly recommend that players use the pregenerated cast. The scenario was written with these characters in mind, and they come with built-in secrets, hidden agendas, and dramatic relationships that fuel the story and maximize the cinematic experience. Choosing a pregen ensures that you are fully immersed in the tension, paranoia, and conflict the module was designed to deliver. The six pregens are: - Vanessa Miller, the captain, a seasoned leader carrying the weight of command. - John Wilson, the Weyland-Yutani company agent. - Aria Kovács, the pilot. - Elias Brandt, the chief engineer. - Malik Drayton, the roughneck. - Lucy, the synthetic science officer. Each of these characters comes with: - A Secret Agenda, revealed act by act. These personal objectives drive roleplay and often create tension or conflict with other characters. - Story Points, which allow you to influence the narrative at critical moments — your personal “cinematic close-up.” - Potentially pre-defined relationships with other crew members, designed to spark drama, mistrust, and memorable interactions. This doesn’t mean you lose creative freedom. While the roles, skills, and agendas are fixed, each pregen is fully convertible in terms of presentation. If you prefer to play a character of another gender, you are absolutely free to do so. Vanessa Miller can just as easily become Victor Miller, John Wilson could be Joanne Wilson, and so on. The goal is to make sure the character fits your preferred roleplay sensibilities while keeping the dramatic structure intact. If you do wish to create your own original character instead of using a pregen, we will follow the standard rules from the Alien RPG Core Rulebook. Characters are built with Attributes, Skills, Talents, and a Career archetype, and all will begin at the baseline cinematic level of play. Please note, however, that a custom character will not have the same built-in ties and conflicts that the pregens bring, so it may require some additional collaboration to weave them into the story. In summary: you can build your own character if you really want to, but the pregens are strongly encouraged because they are what make Chariot of the Gods shine. They’re not just stat blocks — they’re dramatic roles in a story of survival horror, corporate intrigue, and inevitable betrayal.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Preparation for this game is simple — no complicated software or accounts are required. - Discord Account: All play will take place on a dedicated Discord server. You will need a free Discord account to join. This is where roleplay (RP), out-of-character chat (OOC), dice rolls, and maps will be handled. If you’re not familiar with Discord, don’t worry — it’s easy to use, and I’ll guide you through the setup. - Immersion & Inspiration: It is not required, but having some familiarity with the Alien films (Alien, Aliens, Alien³, Prometheus, Alien: Covenant) will greatly enhance your immersion. This scenario is written to feel like a lost installment in that cinematic universe: dark corridors, flickering lights, and the cold silence of space. If you know the atmosphere of Alien — the fear, the tension, the corporate manipulation — you’re already prepared. - No Rules Knowledge Needed: You do not need to own the Alien RPG rulebook or know the mechanics beforehand. Everything will be explained during play. The system is very beginner-friendly and focused on storytelling. Pregenerated characters will be provided, so you can jump straight into roleplay and survival. That’s it. With a Discord account and a willingness to step into a tense, cinematic horror story, you’ll have everything you need.

What Meneur2Jeu (Remy) brings to the table

As your Game Mother, I will provide everything you need to fully immerse yourself in Chariot of the Gods and the world of Alien RPG. You don’t need to bring rulebooks or worry about setup — just step aboard the USCSS Montero and prepare to play. Here’s what I provide: Core Materials I own both the Alien RPG Core Rulebook and the Chariot of the Gods scenario in physical and digital format. All rules, lore, and scenario details will be at hand, so you can focus entirely on roleplay. Character Sheets I have designed custom Google Slides character sheets for each of the six pregenerated characters. They are visually appealing, easy to read, and streamlined for play-by-post format. You’ll have everything you need at a glance, without flipping through pages. Maps & Visuals I provide maps and ship schematics using Owlbear Rodeo (I have a premium account for smooth access and sharing). This gives us clear layouts for locations while still keeping the cinematic feel of the game. To enhance immersion, I will also use AI-generated illustrations for key scenes, NPCs, and environments. These images set the mood and make the story come alive. Atmosphere & Music Alien RPG is all about tension and mood. I will include curated playlists and ambient soundtracks in my posts (Spotify, YouTube Music) to capture the feeling of being lost in space, hunted in the dark, or betrayed by those you thought you could trust. Narrative Style My GM style is cinematic and story-focused. Expect strong descriptions, cliffhangers, and roleplay opportunities at every turn. The rules will be applied fairly, with a focus on enhancing drama and suspense. I stick to the rules of Alien RPG where they serve the story, but I will occasionally lean into the “Rule of Cool” if it makes for a more intense and memorable scene. Tone & Voices I will provide distinct narrative voices for NPCs and inject tension into every scene, but the focus will always be on your characters and their choices. This is not a tactical D&D dungeon crawl — it is a survival horror story where paranoia, drama, and fear drive the game forward. In short, I will bring the tools, visuals, atmosphere, and narrative drive to make Chariot of the Gods feel like you’ve stepped into an Alien film. Your only job as players is to inhabit your characters, embrace the fear, and make the tough choices when survival is on the line.

Homebrew rules

For this game, we will play by the book, following the rules of the Alien RPG Core Rulebook and the Chariot of the Gods scenario as written. The only exception is a small adjustment to the initiative system during combat. In the official rules, combat uses initiative cards that determine strict turn order. While this works well at a physical table, it can sometimes slow things down in a Play-by-Post (PbP) format. To keep the pace smooth and cinematic, I may slightly adapt initiative cycles — grouping certain NPC actions together, or streamlining turn order so the story continues without long pauses. The goal is to preserve fairness while preventing combat scenes from dragging. Aside from this minor pacing adjustment, all other mechanics — including stress, panic, agendas, and story points — will be run exactly as written to maintain the integrity and horror of the Alien RPG experience.

How Meneur2Jeu (Remy) creates a safe table

Alien RPG is designed as a survival horror game. It includes themes of fear, gore, paranoia, and human conflict — including the possibility of betrayal and PvP. That said, it’s very important that this remains a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone at the table. Here’s how I keep my players safe and comfortable: Monte Cook Consent Checklist Before the game begins, I will send each player the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist. This allows everyone to clearly mark which themes and content they are comfortable with, which should be handled with care, and which are completely off-limits. This way, we can ensure the horror remains thrilling without crossing anyone’s boundaries. Session 0 Document Review During our Session 0 Document Review, we will go over: - The tone of the game (fear, paranoia, gore, corporate intrigue, possible PvP). - The Consent Checklist results, ensuring we respect lines and veils. - The difference between in-character conflict and out-of-character respect — PvP can happen, but it is never personal. Ongoing Communication I will always encourage open communication. If something becomes uncomfortable during play, players can let me know directly, either in OOC chat or privately via direct message on Discord. Aftercare Horror can be intense, and PvP or character death may create strong emotions. I make time after major scenes (and at the end of the game) for aftercare discussions. This gives players space to decompress, share how they felt, and separate themselves from their characters.
