About the adventure

This game is for anyone new or moderately experienced with DND. It will be set in a fantasy world of my own making. The two main countries are vastly different in almost every way: Obernia: a land that uses magic for most things in everyday life. This Forest filled land is ruled by elves and humans primarily. Naresia is it’s neighboring kingdom and is a land that has worked and studied diligently to hone technology and relies on it for most of their needs. These deserts are ran primarily by dwarves and gnomes. Evil forces are in play and put these lands at odds with each other could lead to a war that could annihilate the world. It is up to our heroes to find the true villain and stop the feuding countries through whatever means they find necessary.

About me

I have always been a fan of fantasy since I was a child and it wasn’t until after college that I got hooked on DND. I am an open minded storyteller that tries to give the players the freedom to make their own choices - even if it isn’t helpful to my plot. I have been a dungeon master for over 7 years on multiple homebrew high fantasy campaigns. I love helping new players learn and letting experienced players embark on new and exciting adventures.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters should remain largely consistent with the Players Handbook or Eberron: the last rising. If a player wants to deviate, then please reach out to me so I can ensure it can work within the world. Players are encouraged to write their own backstory and share with me before our session, I will make a few tweaks so that it can incorporate locations, characters and other key story elements. All character stats will be rolled during our first season. Characters will start at level 1

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Best prep is to create your character and send me the details. You will also need to join my discord server as it will be our main communication hub outside of the sessions.

What Caleb Simonds brings to the table

As a GM I will allow a lot of creative freedom for the players - as long as the dice agree! I will do my best character voices and have various forms of combat and role playing throughout the campaign.

Homebrew rules

In fights you can choose to do “subdual” damage to subdue an enemy. Great for questioning enemies or taming beasts.

Safety

How Caleb Simonds creates a safe table

Session 0 will be a good time to set ground rules and to see if everyone is a good fit. It will also be a time for me to get a gauge on what the players are or are not ok with in the game. I will use debriefings along with stars and wishes regularly, especially at the beginning to make sure everyone is on the same page and that the campaign is going in a direction that everyone is on board with.
