About the adventure
High winds scream across the mountain passes, carrying with them a biting cold that cuts to the bone. The trail winds upward through snow-choked valleys and sheer ridges where only the bravest or most reckless dare tread. It is here, among the blizzards and white silence, that your party has been hired to find a missing explorer - an eccentric adventurer whose family fears the mountain has finally claimed him. But as abandoned campsites and unsettling remains emerge along the path, the search takes on a darker and far more dangerous tone. Tracking a trail in the frozen tundra is no simple task. The snow hides tracks, the winds erase signs, and strange shapes flicker at the edge of vision. Wild creatures adapted to the ice stalk the weary, and the cold itself becomes a relentless foe. Designed for characters of level 5, Frozen Asset challenges players not only with the harsh environment but also with deception and survival against shape shifting enemies. Frozen Asset is just one of the thrilling adventures found in One Shot Wonders, a collection of compact, ready-to-play scenarios perfect for a night’s gaming or dropping into an ongoing campaign. Each adventure is packed with twists, evocative settings, and memorable challenges that keep players hooked from start to finish. Whether you’re looking for an icy mystery, a dungeon crawl, or something entirely unexpected, One Shot Wonders ensures your table is never short of excitement.

About me
Hi, I’m Chris — and I have a serious addiction to D&D. Since I first started playing around 2010, I’ve never looked back. I began GM-ing in 2017, and it quickly became my passion. With my friends, I helped grow our group to about 10 players, rotating GMs every week. One of my favorite traditions was hosting an annual awards evening where all the GMs ran mini-adventures — a night full of fun, surprises, and great memories. Originally from the UK, I married a South African and now run immersive D&D Weekends out in the wilds of South Africa. Check out what it’s all about at https://waterberg-dnd.co.za. I’m all about the rule of cool over strict rules, crafting epic, player-driven stories that really bring the adventure to life. My greatest strength? Off-the-cuff improvisation — but don’t worry, my worlds are rich in detail with pages of notes for every session. I can’t wait to share some unforgettable adventures with you!

Creating your character
This game is for 2024 character builds, you can use 2014 expanded rules as long as it doesn't have a legacy tag on D&D Beyond. When creating your character on D&D Beyond, under sources please select 5.5e Core Rules, 5.5e Expanded Rules & 5e Expanded Rules, also please use point buy/standard array for stats and standard equipment. We are playing level 5 characters using either standard array or point buy, on top of that if you would like you can have an uncommon magic item magic item + 500gp or a second uncommon item. Only official content without discussing first, also avoid anything with a 'legacy' tag.

What Chris brings to the table
I'll bring D&D Beyond for character creation, a fun game, maps and potentially some voices.
Homebrew rules
My playstyle leans toward Rules as Fun - I value creating an engaging experience over strict rule adherence. I'm always open to bending the rules if it makes the game more enjoyable. That said, here are a few common homebrew rules I use: - You can use a bonus action in place of a regular action. - Failed death saves carry over during combat. - When unsure if something should work, I'll often roll odds/evens to decide.

How Chris creates a safe table
My play style is very lighthearted and fun in general, there are elements of survival to this adventure. If at any point someone feels uncomfortable it is best to highlight (whether publicly or privately) and we'll resolve the issue quickly and get back to enjoying the game! I'll also be available and very receptive before, during and after game play incase there is any content or themes you'd like to discuss.
