About the adventure

SESSION 0 IS FREE CONCEPT: Fantasy Cowboys and Cowgirls riding across the Drylands to save the people against evil gangs, greedy corporations, and most importantly, the terrifyingly massive Colossi that have mysteriously emerged. In my campaign, your ultimate goal is to uncover the mysteries of the Colossi and save the land, but the path to get there is entirely up to you. Are you a group of do-gooders trying to do what's right for the people? Are you the only uncorrupted Sheriff's office in the Drylands saving people in the name of truth and justice? Is your party a bandit gang themselves and the reason they fight is to line their pockets? I'd love to find out! Colossus of the Drylands is a Campaign Frame that was published in the Daggerheart Core Rules. Think Shadow of the Colossus meets Red Dead Redemption. I want to run this game with the best qualities of both in mind. -RDR2 is a great game about found family, interpersonal power dynamics, and betrayal. I'd love for the players to lean into their friendships and create drama during the game that only their characters could have. -SotC is one of my favorite games of all time. It's indeed about defeating the huge ancient beings, but it also tells a very tragic story with unclear motivations from the main character. I don't think the Players should make their character's purpose vague, so for my game the Colossi themselves will be a bit of a mystery for the players to solve. PLAYSTYLE: If you are the kind of player who wants to get attached to a character and wants to get attached to everyone else's as well, this is the table for you. Players in my games can feel free to sit and roleplay for as long as they like. The story will be driven by their actions and decisions. I want to be a fan of the players' characters and track their development and present problems designed for them. I love a good Combat or Dungeon crawl, but the world and the roleplay are where the meat of the game is for me. YOUR DECISIONS MATTER. I am known to make things from session 1 relevant in session 26. Think carefully! COMBAT: Combat will be dangerous. You are flies to the Colossi and they are capable of killing a PC quickly. Apart from them, fighting monsters, wildlife, and other people are also a part of the game. FIREARMS ARE AVAILABLE as a weapon of choice and generally Battlemaps will be designed with plenty of cover. QUICKDRAW DUELS are homebrewed into the game by me and can be initiated by players or NPCs.

About me

Heya, my name is Bailey (he/him). I'm 29 and I have a degree in Audio Engineering. I've been a geeky guy for all of my life, so when I began to understand what TTRPGs were, I simply couldn't get enough. I've been a TTRPG player for two years, starting with D&D 5e but slowly branching off into different systems that I love like Daggerheart and Draw Steel. I started playing around the time Baldur's Gate 3 came out, and I quickly slotted into the GM role at tables with friends and family. I've successfully ran multiple campaigns, both prewritten and homebrew, and my players always tell me they have a great time. Here are some of my inspirations and each of their themes that I like to use in my games: >Star Wars (Mysticism) >The Witcher (Destiny and Fate) >The Elder Scrolls (Pantheon + world integration) >Xenoblade Chronicles (mind-bending world set pieces) >Earthbound and Mother 3 (humor and heart) >The Legend of Zelda series (Adventure and Dungeon design) >Final Fantasy (Aesthetic) >Monster Hunter (Boss design) >Kingdom Hearts (Childlike Light vs Dark) >Fighting games like Street Fighter and Guilty Gear (Style) >Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Fate's effects on physics) >Hunter X Hunter (Unique enemy capabilities) >One Piece (Found family) To name a few. If you are a player in my games and Homebrew settings, expect some of these themes and concepts to be mixed together and represented.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during Session 0 on FoundryVTT. Feel free to discuss some ideas with the rest of the party in the Discord server. Backstories can be sent to me after Session 0 and I may discuss a few small changes to correspond with the adventure or another PC's backstory.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a Discord account and a mic. I will send the link to the Discord Server to everyone that joins as soon as I can. Additionally, a Webcam is HIGHLY recommended but not strictly required. Daggerheart is a game that benefits a lot from the players being able to see each other as they roleplay and during combat. Don't worry about being super familiar with Daggerheart's rules! You will learn the game very quickly! FoundryVTT works from a browser link that I'll send you, so there's no need to make an account on Foundry or anything. I'll be using a 3D dice plugin, so there may be performance issues if your computer isn't particularly powerful. I will go over the FoundryVTT UI functions during Session 0 so we can all be somewhat familiar with it during the game.

What Bailey brings to the table

I will provide PDFs containing the information you need for character creation, including the Colussus of the Drylands specific character creation guidelines. You needn't buy the book (although you should. It's a great game!) I'll be using KenkuFM as music and ambience and I'm totally open to track suggestions. Things I Strive for as a GM: - Giving attention to each PCs personal journey. - Creating a relaxed but dedicated roleplaying environment. - Making the players' decisions matter in the long run. - Building satisfying combat encounters Things I value in a Table: - Thoughtful Roleplay. - Ambition. - Respect for the others at the table. - Communication principles that move towards an open and empathetic environment. If you ever need, you can book a free 1 on 1 with me to discuss your character, some plans or ambitions you may have, some aspect of the world or NPCs you'd like to add detail to, etc. Just send me a DM on Discord.
