About the adventure
Yesterday, young Tobias went to investigate an old tomb by himself. Everyone told him it was a bad idea. Everyone was right. Today, you and your companions awaken to a town in chaos. Why is the temple sealed behind a divine shield? Why are children and worshipers trapped within? How do we get inside? What did Tobias do?! Your characters are local youths who just returned from a Halloo - a long fun pilgrimage where you were free to wander and find yourselves away from your community - and now, with your hard won skills, you are the town's best hope! ๐๐๐ฏ๏ธโ๏ธ๐โ๏ธ๐ฏ๏ธ๐๐ Nightmare over Ragged Hollow is a dark, old-school fantasy sandbox with mystery at its heart. Thereโs a living town to explore, several hexes' worth of wilderness and side-quests branching in every direction, and a looming 50-room nightmare-filled templecrawl at the center.ย In this adventure you will: ๐ฐ Haggle with goblins at their midnight market! ๐๏ธ Loot a mad inventor's abandoned mansion! ๐ Survive the ruins that doomed poor dumb Tobias. ๐ Interact with a frankly unreasonable amount of things that want to eat you! ๐งโโ๏ธ Suspicious old women! They smell! They cackle! What do you do?!?! ๐ Oh yeah, and try to survive the temple. Everyone's lives depend on you. ๐ฒ๐โ๏ธ Game Specifics โ๏ธ๐๐ฒ NoRH is an adventure for levels 1+ and will be run using D&D 5e 2024.ย I expect the campaign to last about 4-10 sessions, depending on your choices and actions. Everyone is welcome! If you're a beginner I will happily teach you and if you're a vet, you'll still have fun!

Creating your character
We'll be using the 2024 rules. I'd prefer sticking to 2024 content for this one, but we can work in other officially published material in. Starting Level: Level 1. Stat Generation: We can decide as a group or individually if we want to do standard array, point buy or 4d6 drop lowest. Character Tone: Good-natured, heroic characters who work well in a group and want to do the right thing encouraged! If you use D&D Beyond, you can make your character there and I will be able to import your character from there to Foundry.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We'll be using Foundry and Discord so you should be able to use both. (Please test before applying, or message me if you need help with this.) Also, using a headset or headphones+mic will be appreciated by everyone involved. Hearing everyone else echoing on a player's speakers is not fun! What GM mega brings to the table
I'll set up a game on Foundry, provide a Discord server, provide a personal wiki for information and recaps and share the necessary materials. (I use a Discord bot to transcribe and create recaps for your convenience.)
Homebrew rules
Inspiration will be grouped into a single pool that every player can contribute and pull from. Otherwise, we'll start with rules as written and adjust if anything comes up.

How GM mega creates a safe table
We'll do Session 0 and go over character creation, expectations and any topics we might want to avoid. Then we'll start playing if there's time left. If you have any phobias like spiders or extreme, unsettling closeups of Steve Buscemi's face or topics you want to avoid, this will be the time to discuss this!
