About the adventure

Step into the mists of Barovia, a land trapped in eternal twilight and ruled by the dread vampire Strahd von Zarovich. This is a long-term campaign using the Curse of Strahd module, a gothic horror tale where every choice, ally, and secret can change your fate. I’ve run this campaign many times, and every group shapes Barovia in their own way. Even if you’ve played Curse of Strahd before, this experience will be completely unique, your story, your party, your ending. This game focuses heavily on roleplay, atmosphere, and moral choices, not just combat. Expect deep character interactions, tension-filled mysteries, and moments that test your courage and ideals. If you crave immersive storytelling, rich NPCs, and the slow descent into the heart of darkness, welcome to Barovia, where the mists remember every soul who dares to enter.

About me

My name is Thomaz, i'm from Brazil and DMing is my full time job! The first time i played D&D was back when i had 12, it was 3.5e. I had no ideia what i was doing but i felt in love with this game. My favorite edition by far is 5e, its so easy to learn! I have a large selection of campaigns i can DM for any party, going from light-hearted to dark fantasy. If i dont know it yet i can quickly get a it ready if the party wants! I also have a degree in languages (Portuguese-English), back in the day my goal was to teach native English speakers to learn Portuguese. I don't plain to be a tutor anymore, but i think i can still have that goal with D&D, helping my players learning while they play! My main goal is show the amazing world of RPG and help them to learm it! I have a game every single day of the week, morning and evening!

Character creation

Creating your character

I strongly encourage players to create their own characters, but if they don’t have time, I’ll have plenty of pre-generated character sheets available. I have a campaign on D&D Beyond with content sharing enabled, so you should be able to create your character there with no problem! After that, we’ll import it into Foundry. The rules for character creation are simple: Point Buy (27 points), all official materials are allowed. If is there any homebrew you wanna try let me know! Everything in the game will be handled through FoundryVTT, rolling dice, grid combat, and so on, but all chat will be managed on Discord.

The current party

We've been playing with only two players for the majority of the campaign. We're managing it fairly well, but it can be very challenging. I balance the encounters as best I can, but the truth is, these players know how to fight! Recently, a disaster happened. They faced a foe far too powerful for them, which resulted in the loss of a dear ally. The Cleric also became a Hollowed One, but despite everything, it didn't break their spirits. They're looking forward to continuing the adventure, but at this point, they definitely need more allies to tag along. Adventure-wise, they are currently level 7 and roughly 60% through the campaign.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All players will need to connect to both Discord and FoundryVTT, links for both will be provided. I also recommend building your character on D&D Beyond. Please have at least a decent microphone; a webcam is only necessary if you feel comfortable using it. Players don’t need to be D&D rules experts, but I strongly encourage everyone to learn about their own class.

What Thomaz Eblen brings to the table

Being a Dungeon Master is my full-time job, and I take it very seriously. I have over 10 years of experience as a DM, and for this adventure alone, I’ve had more than 10 groups play through it. With FoundryVTT, there are all sorts of animated spells, battlemaps, and other features to enhance immersion! I also have a vast shared content pool on D&D Beyond that all of my players can access!

Homebrew rules

I tend to add rules as the campaign goes on, to improve my players’ quality of life.

Safety

How Thomaz Eblen creates a safe table

I don't include any sexual content in my games. That's a hard line for me. If you need to step away at any time, feel free to do so. Just type "BRB" in the chat so everyone knows you'll be back. Whether it's for a quick break, the bathroom, or to grab a drink, there's no need to ask for permission. You're always welcome to message me directly, during or outside of game time, with any questions. I'll reply as soon as I can. I'm also very flexible with rulings when it leads to a cool, creative, or cinematic moment. If it's fun and doesn't overshadow the rest of the table, I'm usually happy to make it work. I don't run a traditional Session Zero. Since everyone creates their character beforehand, we spend about 30 minutes introducing ourselves, reviewing expectations, and making sure everyone is comfortable before jumping straight into the adventure. I rarely schedule breaks during sessions. Since my games are usually around three hours long, I'm used to running them without stopping. That said, players are always free to step away whenever they need to. Above all else, I use the Deck of Player Safety. Before the campaign begins, every player can anonymously identify topics they don't want included in the game. Everyone at the table, including me, is expected to respect those boundaries so we can create a fun, welcoming, and comfortable experience for everyone.
